Thank you Vaughn and Chris (*** Dialup Warning ***)
A little over exposed, but a quick tweak of the shudder and I'm getting there. Didn't realize how bad the reflection of off the acrylic would jack the focus.

Anyway, these are for you guys (the pictures, not the snakes) :P

    Cinnamon Pastel (1 day old)

    Spider (1 hour old)

Hypo (just had his first meal today ... about 2 weeks old)

    Thanks again guys! :worship:

    WOW!!!

Those are some hot photos and ball pythons!

If you put a super thin sheet of paper between the ambient light source and snake it will reduce the refraction off the skin. Allowing the light to be absorbed into the skin as a softer fill.

    You are my hero

Hell yeah! I need to go out and get a tripod and black acrylic riser (and light tent and light) so my snakes can look a fraction as good!

Yeah, I'm working on it .... I'm already shooting the light through the tent and actually used the "tent cover" for the first time ... I just think that the light was a little too close .... I really underestimated how much light the acrylic would throw back up at the snake ... Little more tweaking and I think I'm there.

That one may have been for Vaughn, but I'll just sit here and drink her in...if you don't mind. I think I could stare at that gorgeous beauty all day! (I can't even imagine what it would be like to have her in person!)

Adam, you've already provided us with tons of amazing photos....but now that you're getting that black reflection thing going...KILLER STUFF there!!!

(Now back to staring at that amazing baby!)

Yuppers, that's one of the Lesser Paltinums that pipped for me late last week ... she was from a ginormous egg that everyone gazed at with wonder and amazement ... hopefully, she'll lay clutches like mamma.

Give me about a week on the axanthic shot .... it's coming ... I'm just a little behind trying to deal with the great 8Ball flood of 2006. ;)

More practice with the acrylic ...

    Hot little spider ...

    http://www.8ballpythons.com/uploads/spider2.jpg

Hot little spider on the way ...

    http://www.8ballpythons.com/uploads/spider-egg1.jpg

And no, I did not cut the egg ... It pipped this morning and I gently opened it up a little more for the shot ... I was "attempting" to get him/her to poke his/her head out for the shot, but I was getting zippy cooperation ... DAGGER ... still not a bad shot though.

    Great spider shot, Adam!

Are you applying any sharpening to the image? How are you saving the final JPEG? Just File > Save or are you using Save for Web (shoot, does Photoshop 6 have that)? What JPEG output options are you using? My reason for asking is you've got some artifacting there that I think we can avoid without increasing the final output size too much.

I'm running an "unsharp mask" over the image at 150, 1.0, and 10 (read about it in a book) ... Then the pics are just "Save for Web" (Yes, my broke old 6.0 has that :P )

    What is artifacting?

Adam, sweet pictures, and that Lesser is a smoker. I really want one of those guys, but I think I'm going to have to wait until next year. No budget left, and I haven't even started spending yet.

You should have waved a teat in front of him. I heard Jamie has had great success with that technique. :hijackd:
