Re: Sperm Plugs?
ha ha ha I take it he wants to breed... He has been doing nothing but pase back and forth for 3 days now and this morning I found what looked to me, 2 little whiteish yellow worm things but I sent them to the vet and found them to be sperm plugs.
EDIT: LOL you people are just wrong LMAO,

Re: Sperm Plugs?
Congrats! Got any females ready?

Re: Sperm Plugs?
I wish!!
So is there anything I can do for him (mind out of the gutter people) I dont have a female of breeding weight, (1200 gr is around breeding weight for females right?)
Should I stop holding him for a while? cool him down? what? :P LOL
Any one near Atlanta or Agusta with a female want babies ? ;) LOL j/k
He is also getting kinda lovey with me... wanting me to pick him up if I put him down. He will just lift the whole frount(sp) of his bady and look up at me, then try to go up my leg if I dont pick him up.

Actually, many sexually mature male ball pythons will produce sperm plugs all year long whether they want to breed or not ... the drive/desire to breed is related to many factors, most of which are trigger by outside stimuli ... while the production of sperm plugs is more of a function of the snakes own pyhsiology.
Just because sperm plugs are present in a male does not mean that we will necessarily breed, and conversly, a male may breed prior to being physically able to produce sperm plugs ... it takes the combination of wanting to breed, producing sperm plugs, and a willing/ready/able female to make little baby ball pythons. ;)

how can you tell they are leaving sperm plugs?

Re: Sperm Plugs?
He has been acting odd ... really odd, spending alot of time on the side of the cage next to my females cage. trying to get out, and wanting to be held alot more. He is tearing apart his cage as we speak, he never did this befor 3 days ago. The vet said he was just fine.

That's because he is ... like I said ... it's a non-event ... if there is something "odd" about him, the presence of sperm plugs has nothing to do with it.
I've got at least 30 males that I could pop sperm plugs out of right now ... they're all fine ... just like your male. ;)

Re: Sperm Plugs?
ok thanks. I wasnt worried really, I took him to the vet thinking there was something wrong with him and the vet told me he was looking outstanding, and all that could be going on is the fact that he just might want to breed to my female, or he just might feel really good for some odd reason.
she isn't a very good herp vet, had to ask me what kind of snake he was 2 times. So I figured i would as you all what might be going on with him.
:D

It looked much better before he started tearing it apart and befor I took off the heat controls.
