There's a snake in my tub!
Many of you know the story of my long term rescue project, Sasha the BRB. I have had him for almost 2 years now since I picked him up from a local reptile store. He had been dropped off there by his previous owner after being starved for nearly a year and left without water for a long time as well. He has gained weight slowly for me over the 2 years but he has also been sick for a lot of the time. He is in permanent quarantine and has been tested and treated for everything possible (never any sign of parasites or any other disease). He had a blood test last week and elevated kidney function seems to confirm what multiple experts believe, which is some sort of kidney disease. I have begun soaking him nightly on their recommendation and I am going to scale back on prey size for now as the added protein can cause issues. I am not sure if he will ever recover and live normally but I can say he is strong and one of the tamest, sweetest snakes I have ever been around considering what he has been through. Anyway...Here is a picture of him enjoying his 20 minute bath today. If I had known he would like it so much, I would have been doing it all along!

Thanks bro..Its been a long road. Still might have an unhappy ending but I'm doing what I can. I've spent close to $1000 in vet bills.
As far as the tub, that is my girl's doing. She takes baths, I shower. I couldn't care less if there was a foot of sludge in the bottom of the tub :)

Sorry to hear about the diagnosis Jamie. You did a great job rescuing that snake and I'm sure if he could talk he would express his gratitude to you.

Rub a dub dub, little snakey in the tub! He looks great...sorry to hear about the prognosis. =P

Re: There's a snake in my tub!
I hope things turn around for him. You both deserve something good to come to you. It seems most times the only one that really appreciates you is the animal you rescue. Thanks for being there.

Re: There's a snake in my tub!
Jamie, not only are you doing what most "normal" people would see as a waste of time and money, but you're doing it because you love these snakes so much. I can definitely respect how much love you've shown for this beautiful reptile. And just as many have stated before, that makes you a great guy. I hope he recovers; he's such a beautiful boy.
-Loves having snakes in the tub.- They usually looks so happy.
Goodluck, and he'll be in my heart. ^_^

Jamie, he's looking awesome! And I think with your continued vigilence and care, he will continue to heal and live a snakie-happy life. This is really an amazing thing you've done with him so far, and continue to do!

What a wonderful thing to do, Jamie - sadly there aren't many people around like you who would take this on board. He's a real beauty though, and I hope all works out well with him in the end despite the prognosis.

Re: There's a snake in my tub!
Even with his current prognosis, I bet the snake feels a hell of a lot better than he did before you took him.

Re: There's a snake in my tub!
Oh Jamie, Sasha's looking so well now though even with his kidney issues. I know you've struggled long and hard both with his care and with the knowledge that you might have to make hard decisions for him one day (though I pray that won't ever happen). This very special snake ended up with you because somehow the fates knew you were the one that would care enough to try.

Hey sometimes that's all we can hope for. He looks wonderful and maybe this new regime of daily baths which you said he seems to enjoy will help turn some issues around for him. I've always adored Sasha so please keep us up-to-date on his progress. Sending tons of good vibes your way!
