Iris CB75's
Does anyone know where we can find the Iris CB75 tubs?
These Dimensions: 22 3/10"W x 37 3/10"L x 6 4/5"H would be just about right for our next tub racks. Hopefully we can move my BP's and some growing yearling boas into these tubs after they out grow the Sterilite 1956 tubs we have. We were looking at building a melamine rack to hold appx 6 CB75 tubs.
I know these guys (http://www.reptiletubs.com), but is there anywhere else?
Didn't Target & Office Depot carry Iris tubs?
Melamine shelves would cost us about $100, 11" Flexwatt to heat one side $21.00, the tubs I expect $12.00-$15.00ea X 6 = $85.00 = $210-$225. $225.00/$37.50 per 3X2 enclosure.
Later on I will add a Helix DBS $125.00 = making the total $330-$350 total. $350.00 for six heated 3X2 enclosures comes out to $60.00 each.
You could always make it a cheaper by going with a different wood or with something cheaper than Helix.

Re: Iris CB75's
I'd let your fingers do the walking Gerry. Maybe if you have a Sam's Club, The Container Store or Bed, Bath and Beyond handy I'd try phoning them. I am having an awful time finding Iris tubs locally here in Toledo as well and I hate paying shipping on a lot of bigger tubs too.
-
Re: Iris CB75's
I cant find ANY Iris tubs locally either. I was looking for tubs for my rack, but had to settle on the Sterilite 41 qt. underbed tub. (36x16x6)
Wish I coulda found those Iris tubs, and have the 6" increase in width.
Where in Florida are you?
Try http://Organizeeverything.com
They have pretty much the best prices on the net, and always have some of the hard to find tubs.
-
Re: Iris CB75's
I have never seen a CB75 anywhere except on www.reptiletubs.com. Bed Bath and Beyond sometimes will carry some Iris tubs but in my experience its mainly the CB110s and then the ones smaller than the CB70s. When I was on a search for CB70s in S. FL I went EVERYWHERE. Office Depot carries the CB70s but not in the stores.

Re: Iris CB75's
Where can i find them First Phillips shoe box tubs?
I know they are not made any more, but where to find them?

Re: Iris CB75's
Hmmm just realized Reptile Tubs is only about 85 miles from us and only about 30 miles past Cedar Point. Maybe a combined trip might be worthwhile later this summer or early fall LOL. I wonder if they are a vender at NARBC Chicago? I'll have to look that up or email them as their website only shows a question mark beside that show.

Eric is a very cool guy ... one of the nicest in the business ... I don't believe that he has a "storefront" that is open to the public, but give him a call and let him know you're in the neighborhood ... I'm positive that he does the Chicago show as well as Daytona.
And he has a very cool collection of ball pythons to boot! ;)

Re: Iris CB75's
Thanks for the info Adam. We may just wait then and pick up the new tubs in October. I'll figure out what we need and maybe let Eric know ahead of time and just pick the order up there if that works out okay for him. Man you are a font of info...thanks again! :)

Re: Iris CB75's
I just came back from Target, Office Depot and Bed Bath & Beyond and none of the stores I went to carry the CB75's. They either carry the CB70's or 110's and had none in stock of either!
I'll start searching online; I just want to compare pricing, shop around and see if I can save on S&H as well as a few bucks per tub. If I can't find anything by the end of today I'll go ahead and order from reptiletubs.
Thanks everyone!

Re: Iris CB75's
I second that. Eric is a super guy. I ordered a bunch of tubs from him last year and I had them in a couple days. Rock on!

Re: Iris CB75's
I was able to find a few places that supply Iris CB70 tubs for sale and they usually come in packs of 3's.
I misread a few of these sets of 3's, it says $15.99 for a set of 3, but when you actually go to buy it's $15.99ea X 3 = $47.97!! For a moment there I thought they were $15.99 for a set of 3! :O

Iris tubs are definitely pricey but in my opinion are the best quality out there. Sterilites crack all the time, but Iris are pretty sturdy.

Re: Iris CB75's
I may have to go with CB70's or CB110's, CB75's seem to be obsolete.
-
Re: Iris CB75's
I would say CB70s. I think the 110s are just overkill for most BPs. Most breeder quality racks use CB70s including Freedom Breeder, Kreature Keeper and ARS.

Re: Iris CB75's
Actually, these are for some 4-5ft boas I have coming of age.
Problem is, all our 04 Boas have been growing and need new homes! :)
I'm hoping to get them something temporary, but good as I hope to also use these larger tub/racks for my adult BP's and outgrowing more boas right before they need their own 4X2 enclosure.
Fact is I am running out of floor space and need to make the most of what I have at the moment. My BP's are also at 650-750g, soon they will need to be moved up as well.
I think I'll go with the CB70's and get some more Boaphile 421D's when the time comes.
-
Re: Iris CB75's
I wonder...if you find a retail store that already carries Iris products, but don't have the size you want...if they'd be willing/able to order it for you? If so, then you could get just what you want, but avoid shipping charges.

Ahhh, I didn't realize they were for Boas. I understand running out of space though!

Obsolete unless it is x-mas season. Walmarts ONLY carry those during x-mas, unless you find a few leftovers right after the x-mas season...they are considered storage for small x-mas trees or lots of ornaments. My Dad is a x-walmart employee, and he said you may be able to con the manager into ordering them at other times of the year if you explain you really need them... thats how I get them. ;) Also try the Container Store..

Re: Iris CB75's
After spending almost two days on this, I've decided to go with CB-110's. These are more common than the CB-75's, not as common as the CB-70's, but common enough. They are 2" wider and 5-6" longer than the CB-70's which my male boas will appreciate the extra inches when it comes time to stretch out a bit.
Now that we've made up our minds on tubs and tub size, we can start working on the rack. Plans will be to stack eight Iris CB-110's, rack will be made of Melamine on casters for easy rolling, when needed. Heating will be belly heat via 11" Flexwatt on one side of the tubs, controlled by a Helix DBS-1000. Cost should be $275.00 w/out thermostat, w/Helix1000 = $400.00.
About $35.00 per 39" X 20" X 6.5" enclosure w/flexwatt.
About $50.00 per when you add the Helix at $125.00.
Still undecided on whether or not to go lidless with these.
Either way, we'll get to work on these this weekend…should be fun!
I'll take pics as we go along. :)

Re: Iris CB75's
Cant wait to see Gerry!! Lidless is the way to go..Like our little serpent friends...

Re: Iris CB75's
I just came back from picking up 8 Iris CB-110 tubs from Bed Bath & Beyond.
$15.99 - 20% (that's right guys, use the coupons) = $12.72 X 8 = $102.33 + tax $108.47.
It came out to $13.48 per tub same day pick up..:D

This weekend we'll pick up the Melamine and casters and start assembly.:sweeet:

Re: Iris CB75's
Gerry do those have the solid lid or the split lid that opens independently on each end?
-
Re: Iris CB75's
Hi Jo, these came with the split lids. We may just go ahead and set these up without the lids, haven't decided yet. All our baby tubs are set up with lids on the racks for added security, just peace of mind with the little ones.
Home Depot has some pre-cut Melamine that is 48" X 24". This would leave 4" on each side length wise and 2" front to back. We may just go lidless on these.
My only concern would be any humidity going up onto the Melamine and would it begin to rot after time.

I've got some melamine racks that are well over 12 years old and are still like brand new ... They were made by one of the first commercial reptile rack companies in the business and I love 'em.
If you make your joints tight and seal them with a fine bead of silicone, the melamine will last forever. ;)

Re: Iris CB75's
I'd go lidless Gerry if at all possible. We use a very similar tub made by Rubbermaid and although the split lid is kind of handy the amount of give at the split is risky. We've dealt with it here but it's an extra hassle and worry. We've never had an escape out of the big split lid tubs but that's due in large part to being OCD. lol

Thanks Adam, we've decided to go lidless with these.

Re: Iris CB75's
We just finished assembly of our rack; it holds 6-7 Iris CB-110 tubs. We decided to make it even easier and go pre-cut (48" X 24") pieces of Melamine and just keep them at 6 lidless tubs within the rack and one tub up top to be used as temporary housing to hold the snakes while we clean their tub. Tomorrow we’ll be installing the flexwatt and Helix.
The rack took about 2.5hrs to assemble and cost a total of $220.00 w/seven tubs. Heating will be another $20-$25 in Flexwatt (which we have laying around) and another $125.00 for the Helix, which we’ll order on Monday. Total cost w/flexwatt = $245.00 for a rack that holds 6-7 CB-110 tubs that measure 39" X 20" X 6.5"! With the Helix DBS1000 the total will come out to about $370.00!
Here are some quick pics of the process and the finished rack. In the end you see a 4.5ft Hypo DH Ghost and as you can see he has plenty of room to stretch, cruise around and grow at his leisure. These tubs would easily house a male boa for life and female boas to about 5ft-5.5ft comfortably.

Re: Iris CB75's
Nice job Gerry! You guys build rack damn fast! Were the casters regular surface mount types? I think I might need to put casters on the one I built and will definitely put them on the hatchling rack when I build it later this year.

Hi Jamie, I can ask my husband which casters we used exactly. It's the ones you buy at Home Depot for 1.50 each that are loose in the boxes. Casters definitely help in moving these racks around. The negative with Melamine is the weight, but attach some casters to them and even I can move them for cleaning and what not.

Awesome! I figured they were the loose ones. I'm going to pick some up. I plan to upgrade my snake room this weekend to a bigger room in the house and it would help to move that rack.
