Well...what experience are you having to lead you to believe he's scamming? The name and e-mail actually seem vaguely familiar, but I can't for the life of me recall why. But then again, familiarity often means nothing in my seive of a memory-bank!

    Any ball morphs for $150?

    Then yes, he's a scammer!

Simple example, why would he sell you a $20K ball for $150 when he can get 20K?

    YES!

    He's been emailing me, also.

He offered me a female pastel ball for 100.00

And wanted me to send my Bank Account info to him.

He said "yea, Ill take 200 for my albino ball.

And he sent me, what looked like fake, copy righted photos. I told him to get lost.

Heh...yeah, that's what I was thinking too. See if I could string him along long enough to get enough info on him to turn it over to the police.

I highly doubt the police would do anything.

All you can really do is block his email and report spam.

"Phishing" in e-mail is highly illegal. It's not about someone trying to rip someone off by misrepresenting the snakes they are selling....it's about someone trying to get bank account information through a fraudulent e-mail. That's what the police would go after.

Definitely NO need to apologize! Scam alerts are important. We have a lot of young people here who might not recognize something like this and fall for it. Thanks for the heads up!!

I've got a link to Fauna about another scammer and what they did to string HIM along. Is it ok to post it for the purposes of this thread and a similar scam? I'm still trying to understand the new TOS on posting links.

Yes, go ahead and post it. So long as the link gives info we don't have...leads to meaningful discussion...and is not for the intent of slamming another forum or persons in that forum (starting a forum war)....that's fine.

Not to get off topic, but does anyone get the emails from someone in an African Country, claiming to need your help to access funds?
Usually its some kind of claim that the money they have inherited/received is tied up somehow, and they need you to get in contact with their financial liason, and give them your acct info so they can transfer the money and you get a 10-15% cut of an amount in the tens-hundreds of thousands.. Obviously I never fall for this kind of crap, but there are some who might, and it seems it should be illegal....

Or am I the only one that gets these emails? Next one I get, Ill copy it on here :)

Those Nigerian scammers have been around for a while. I think most people have gotten one as some point in time. Check out www.snopes.com . One of my favorite sites for the real scoop on urban legends, internet scams, etc..

I urge everyone to reference this site before sending out one of those chain letters about the sick kid or the government planning to charge us for sending emails.

    Sorry to go off topic!

I get ones that say that a family member has died in africa and they need my account info to deposet funds in to my account. each time I fry them .. .I know it is different people each time because I totaly fry there computer and about 2 days later I get another e mail from a different bank.. It has gotten to the point that I just stop frying CPUs abd block the senders...

    Re: scammer...?
Wow! I'd LOOOOVE to know how to toast a CPU....even my ex who worked IT for a BIIIIIIIG electronics / computer company, and my sister who did IT for a SW company didn't know how to do THAAAAT.

:sigh2: Why does everyone else get to have all the fun??? ;)

But to answer the other question....yeah, the "Dr." from (pick a country) who needs the money to get his inheritance, :blahblah: :blahblah: (ad nauseum) they're VERY frequent (STILL!!) and will continue to happen as long as ppl are gullible and continue to send the money. The internet cafes overseas are so thick, that even when (IF) the authorities catch one of the scammers, there are oodles more to take his place.

One of the biggest tipoffs is the really crappy spelling and grammar. First thing our IT security taught us to look for. :D

    Re: scammer...?
Well when it comes to "frying CPUs" I really cant tell you how to do it. at least not on here. . . My husband actualy tought me how to do it. There is also another fun trick to pull... you can burn a message in to a computer screen while killing the CPU... My husband fryed my old computer and burned into the screen "I LOVE U" right after that I knew i was going to marry him :D

You have to use a Virus to fully kill the CPU caulsing it to over heat, same with the Burning of the screen. But that is all i will say :D
