New Motley boa
After many months of research, chatting with breeders and drooling over Motley boas, we finally purchased a male from Bill Kirby. This picture isn't very good at all, I'll send some newer ones as soon as he is home. :D
I like his pattern and dark contrast, should show up nicely on some combination morphs later on.
There goes my BP projected funds!

Hehe...good luck with that!
That is an awesome looking boa! Motley's are so cool. And I totally agree with Jamie, it looks to me like you're well on your way to being one of the premier boa breeders in the country! I don't think you'll regret this purchase one bit. :D

Re: New Motley boa
:tears: I weep at the beauty of that snake... at from jealousy! Oh, Gerry, he is beautiful. I saw your postings on Albino Motleys... shooting for this in your future plans? Cause that little boy will provide some AWESOME genes. :tongue2: Congrats!

Re: New Motley boa
Thanks everyone, designer morphs using motleys and supers are still in their infancy stage. Most breeders are still holding back quite a few, if not all their babies.
Motleys have quite a range in appearance and pattern. The real potential will be combination morphs using motleys, super motleys and combination morphs using super motleys. PK, Jeremy and one or two others have already produced albino Motleys in the past two years, sunglow motleys are very close to popping up!
Hopefully, we can produce a nice size litter in 2008 and hold back quite a few, if not most females and a few males for future projects such as combos and supers. We've got big plans for our newest addition!

Re: New Motley boa
Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link, but here is PK's litter of Albino Motleys.

There is still a lot of work to be done using selective breeding. I'm sure we will see some great improvements in colors as time goes on. I can't wait to see the Sunglow Motleys and how they effect and hold colors and pattern!

I'm not sure if I'm more impressed with Adam's sorcery skills or the Albino Motleys! Both are WICKED!

Re: New Motley boa
We sure lucked out when you joined this site Gerry! What a lovely motley! I wasn't even aware they existed and the albino motley is stunning! Thanks so much for helping show all of us the strides being made in boa breeding. Congrats on your purchase!

Re: New Motley boa

Re: New Motley boa
Thanks everyone, boa breeders are slowly breaking new grounds and new morphs are being developed. Breeders are always trying to tweak their projects to improve on current morphs as well as develop new ones. We should see some interesting things in the next 2-3-5yrs.
I was telling Jamie today that my husband has already blown my BP budget on boas this year. Hopefully in the next 1-2yrs our Boas will help fund some nice BP projects down the road for me. I'd like to see some Pieds in our reptile room among others!
That is if we can find a middle ground between Boas and BP's!

Re: New Motley boa
He's finally here!!
A bit anxious from his trip and nippy, but looks great! He also shed during the trip. Born 4/18/06, he should be ready to breed by 12/07!

All I can say is... WOW.

Re: New Motley boa
Hmmm should I start saving up my pennies for a Sunglow Motley (at least that's what I think they are called in my newbie boa morphs mind LOL)
-
Re: New Motley boa
Absolutely gorgeous, Gerry! I love motleys! Motlies? LOL
-
Re: New Motley boa
Thanks everyone, Sunglow Motleys are definitely in our future.
First thing is to line up this boy next year with our oldest/largest/proven every time Classic female. We're giving her next year off and when he's ready for her she should drop 30-40 babies. 1/2 being Motley! Once we get those on the ground we'll sell only a handful and put the rest into Super Motley, Albino Motley, Sunglow Motley, Hypo Motleys and other designer Motley projects. :D

Re: New Motley boa
Oh it'll be fun to watch your results over the coming years Gerry!
