    Baby bunny??
She left her hole and there was 1 little bunny left. I realize that he may die but I'm going to give him a shot. He's a little guy about 4-5" long. A full coat of hair and everything. I got him some greens and food in an aquarium as well as a few hides. He's just hiding now. He appears to be injured a bit. I don't want to let him go, it will be a sure death otherwise. I'll let everyone know how he does. Took out part of it because its irrelavent

Very cute and sad at the same time.

Unfortunately Jake, all of the wild type bunnies I have ever tried to save die. They just dont seem to do well adapting to captivity.. its the stress.... not neccessarily stress you are creating because baby wild bunnies do seem to stress alot and dont seem to adapt to captivity well. The best thing I can advise you to do, is find a local wild life rescuer through fish and game in your state ASAP, for some reason they seem to have better success rates than most other ppl.

I have a few people I am waiting for a call back already. Everything I read says to keep them a warm spot and water available. We'll see if this little guy even makes it through the night. Doesn't seem to be doing too bad. He's hinding out in the sock now and I managed to get him to drink a bit of water. Only time can tell on this

    Thanks for the help

Such a cute little baby....I hope it works out for ya. What will you do if he survives and begins to grow. Gonna keep him as a pet? Or release it when it's old enough?

Depends. If my allergies start getting better, I will probably keep it but I'm not getting my hopes up. Whenever I think something good is going to happen it always turns around.

    Aww pork! How cute!
Good luck, I def. second the rehabber advice. Even if you dont take her there, they may be willing to offer advice.
I have rehabbed some baby squirrels, rabbits and other animals before.. Its not easy, and I had better luck with squirrels than with my bunnies. The bunnies I had were MUCH smaller than yours though.
I know someone who does wildlife rehabs who can hopefully offer some advice for you as well. :) I'll try to contact him and see what he says.
I will IM if I get any info :)
    Good Luck :)

Thanks for the kind words. Please keep him in your prayers. Its really hard not to become attached when hes so loving but if I do it will make death/release harder for me. Just wish me luck and feel free to offer any kind words and advice to me.

I've worked with bunnies before, and stress is a MAJOR killer for them. We lost sooo many at the sanctuary. They are just so high strung. My best advice is to find a rehabber. After that, I would highly recommend a very quiet, dark environment. Do not go in, other than to feed. I wish I could remember the feeding schedule for that size. I'd go for every six hours, and then use warm wet water on a finger to 'stimulate' them. The mother normally cleans them and that encourages the bladder to release. I haven't worked with them for awhile now, but I hope the little guy pulls through for ya.

I talked to a lady that specializes in wild rabbits. She said to try and feed it every few hours for a day or so. After that one meal he is more fiesty and active than before. He took very little just now which I didn't expect him too. I'm going to try and make him pee in a minute. He is so cute. Its so hard not to get attached. I think I will go get him a small box set up. He's in a so long now. Should I have to force the bottle in his mouth or should he take it by him self?

Some take it pretty easy, others have to be coaxed a little more. Warmth, dark and quiet. We kept our bunny room pretty dark, and only went in during feeding sessions. Watch to make sure that he doesn't aspirate the milk too. (getting into it's lungs)

Thanks, I was told by the lady that getting some native weeds and flowers may also help. I put a small amount of clover and dandilions(SP?) in with him. I'll see what he does with them before I go to bed. I had no luck getting him to pee and she said it will be fine and to wait for the milk to pass through him. I will try and feed again tonight and see how that goes.

Just remember they are cute and sweet, but they don't stay that way. Once hormones kick in, and they're all grown up, they aren't as cute any more. This will not likely be a sweet, cuddly bunny. If you want a pet bunny, I'd recommend a more domestic sort. :D

Thanks, didn't think about that. The only reason that I don't get a domestic bunny is that most get so big, cotton tails don't get 10 lbs and have a full thick coat of fur so they shed all the time.

Finally, I fed him again and he took about 1/2 Tablespoon of formula. He pee'd all on his own and is looking better and better. I'll get some good pics tomarrow hopefully

Hey it sounds like your doing pretty well on your own with the rehab person helping you.Even though i used to breed rabbits at one time wild ones are not even close to domestic when it comes to the babies.Keep up the good work and listen to the rehab persons advice.By the way we just got back from Omaha and loved your zoo:partyon: .Have you seen the white gator yet? I have pics and will post them soon.Keep us posted

Thanks, I havent seen the white gator in a while. I didn't know they still had him. They did about 3 years ago. The bunny wouldn't even eat this morning but he seems so much more active. I'm hoping I can get him to eat some regular bunny foods soon because I can already tell this guy is more work that I am really liking

If you do plan to keep him, getting the lil bun fixed would probably take care of the hormone problem. Helps keep em calm and cuddly and well behaved. (well, as well behaved as bunnies get, lol!) It's still an issue with domestic buns too, which is why it's always good to get them altered plus -especially in the case of females- altered bunnies tend to live longer. :) But yeah, rabbits are indeed a lot of work, no question about that!

Ya, we had one when I was younger but my brother took her when he moved out. It was about 15 lbs and was the sweetest thing. I am still telling myself I shouldn't keep him and I have a whole list of reasons.

I went to feed him this morning and he was cold and limp. I picked him up and wraped him in his towel and he felt weak. He stopped breathing and died. This is really making me sad. I don't know what the hell I did wrong. Why the hell didn't they just leave him where he was? This is really a moment that has affected me since I have became so attached to him over the last 3 days

It comes with the territory of trying to raise wildlife. There's not much else you could have done, but I know that is little consolation. But still, I'm very sorry about the loss.
