I think I want a morph...

I really want to add a morph to my colection,and I have really put thought in to it. I would ask the guy who moved in next door but he went on leave to Daytona.

I just wanted to ask some of the breeders here what are the normal prices of morphs and what is really the cheapest morph avalable this year.

You're best bet is to first figure out which morph is your favorite! :D ;)

You could run into trouble if your favorite morph is a lesser platinum which is something like $25000. lol

pastels can be had for less than $1000.. albinos are $2500+ pieds $5000-7000 I believe.

Alternately you can buy hets (normal looking snakes that carry the genes for morphs) and breed them to make your own morphs. It's much less expensive that way.

Dito... go to the classifed at KS and see which you like and can afford. There you will get a good idea of prices, you could even check out breeders sites.

Pastel is probably the least expensive.

Have you looked at any of the odd-ball types like granite, black back, banded/reduced, etc? Although those traits may or may not reproduce, they are still a cool, different normal to clean up after and can usually be had for under $200-300.

blackback, granite, reduced patterns, non genetic stripe, etc


It depends if by morph you mean genetic or just different looking.

I have a non Genetic stripe comeing to me on the first form Ben Siegel. as for my favorite... ha ha I could never aford my favorite... The piebald and and the Blue eyed Lucy
I want a Pied mor than anything in the world though. I might give my whole colection for a pied. :D

Be careful ..... I was thinking the same thing just a few months ago and BAM!!!! Now my wife thinks these morphs are my midlife crisis. She says its better than a corvette or a girlfirend though.

Hard to argue with a pied .... but its a lot of $$$$$

Well, for people with more time than budget, hets are always a great way to go. Back in the mid 90's when I saw my first albino ball python, I was in no position to buy one, but a 100% het albino male was just within reach (well, barely, but that's another story) ... so I picked one up and patiently waited while I bred him, raised up his babies, bred them back to dad, and finally made my own albinos .... I've been producing them almost every year since and to this day, buying that het male was one of the best things I've ever done! ;)

And Jessica, hets are a great way to go even if you just start with a male to go with a couple normal females. It will take some time, but I am sure it would be worth it.

Actually, I think its time for MY midlife crisis, and I want a pied!!!!!!

Im way to young to have a midlife crisis but I still want a pied. maybe I could get a nice ringer... the guy next door has a really nice male ringer... I wish he had pieds though.. i still have yet to see one in person.

OT real quick. How do i get rid of scale rot? My male came up with it. He is still eating and everything but I dont want to see it get really bad. I changed his bedding out and put him on news paper, checked the temps and humidity, every thing is stable. so now what do I do??

I used neosporin (without Lidocaine or pain reliever) but you can use another triple antibiotic..I had to just keep applying it, since they tend to rub it all off. You should probably remove all substrate and make the water bowl smaller.
The problem with scale rot is that it is usually something inside the snake that works its way out in the form of a secondary infection. Keep applying the antibiotic ointment 2ce a day..
SILVER SULFADIAZINE aka Silvadene cream is the overall best, but only available by Rx.
If it gets red or oozes puss def. take it to the vet immediately.

It is just a tiny red spot, but it bites that I have neosporin with pain reliever. I guess im going to the store LOL.. between my snakes, my husband and the kids next door I should really buy a First aid kit LOL

LOL!! Yes, 1st aid kits are a must with husbands :rolleyes: my kids arent as accident prone :) lol

The kid next door got perfume in his eyes today then he bit his sister so badly that she started bleeding, The other two were trying to choke each other. All of them but the 14 year old are grounded.

I ended up calling Posion Control for the kid that got sprayed, and the 14 year old is sitting here nursing her bite wound.

Sounds like my house...My 2.5yr old got into the ant spray...thought it was hairspray..Meanwhile, I was in the bathtub, thinking she was still asleep with the 8yr old..The 8yr old was watching her do it, and then just took it away from her...didnt bother to tell me..I smelled it as soon as I got out of the tub!!
I can tell some stories..

So if anyone wants to trade a 2.5yr old kid for a nice pied..Im all for it! :) lol

Yes guy's the het's are best when it come's to pied's , I can't afford a 5,000 dollar to 7,000 dollar Bp.But I will produce one , Oh and I'd start with a pastel if you like them.

The Isuzu VehiCROSS Hot Wheels Edt. There is also the Iron Man, Spider Man, Super man, and the most rare Brillent Blue, only 5 of them were ever made. Only the Hotwheels and Superman Edt have what is called ABTurbo After Burst Terbine (sp?)

The VX has 2 buttens on the center concole, Winter and Power. When taking the HW edt. VX and the SM Edt. over 120MPH if you engage the power and winter switches the ABT kickes in and gives the VX a hyper dose of O2, Almost like NOS. I found this out by accedent. That is one of the reasions it cost so much..
