    Lesser Platinum Prices
I just saw some ads for Lessers for $12k a pair. When did the prices drop so dramatically? Where have I been??? Am I missing something?

Well, that question kind of opens up a huge can of worms. Check it out...you know prices are determined by the supply and demand blah blah blah, and then there's that listed "market price" that breeders list on their websites. These prices are going to fluctuate and eventually drop as the supply of them goes up.

Just because someone on kingsnake advertises a lesser for $12k a pair doesn't mean that thats new "market price." That also doesn't mean that you'll be able to call up RDR or NERD and expect them to give you a pair of lessers for $12k just because Joe Shmoe is selling one on kingsnake for that.

So yeah, thats that. Lessers are a co-dom trait so they will drop over time as people make more of them, but considering what you can make with them, they won't be falling in price extremely fast anytime soon.

    Here's a good read:

    Hope that helps.

Personally, I'm not having any problems selling lessers this year at much better prices than that ... the lesser market certainly isn't what it was at this time last year (then again neither is the pinstripe, woma, spotnose, butter, etc market), but it is still very strong ... If I was looking to pick up a lesser this year and checking out the bargin basement prices, at 12k a pair AND with the mojave market in the cr@pper, I'd be worried about someone trying to pass of a pair of really nice looking mojaves as lessers .... Seems like a great way for a dirtball to take advantage of good people looking for a deal … Even if they are buying their mojaves, they could still be putting 8K in their pockets …. And what about me?? I mean, if I had never seen either in person, could I really tell the difference between ultra light mojaves and super dark lessers? … Maybe, but then again, maybe not .... at those prices could I really be confident that I was getting the "real deal" ... in reality, anyone that needs to undercut the market that much in order to move snakes probably isn’t too bright to begin with, so maybe he/she actually thinks that the snakes that they bought or traded for are lessers when they’re not .... Obviously my main concern would come from the fact that a lot of these "bargin lessers" are being sold by "flippers" ... lots of hands tend to make deals "muddy" ... no accusations, just a thought.

    ROCK ON! ;)

Adam. What do you anticipate will be your marketed price on your lessers for this season?

Won't know until everything is hatched ... Pre-sales have gone so well, and I keep so many for myself every year that I might already be sold out. ;)

That's excellent Adam! Looks like Jimmy truly has no ill effect on the master. At least not on the true lesser platform. Do you anticipate that you will hatch a lesserxlesser this season?

You know what's funny.... if there wasn't another line of pure white blue eyed leucistics out there, the mojaves would be the most popular morph on the market right now. It's amazing how the market can shift so fast just because there's something out there better to compare it to. I guess we've built a better mouse trap. God bless capitalism.

I have an idea, Adam. Your post about people trying to pawn off Mojaves as Lessers made me wonder how well we'd actually do guessing the difference between a Mojave and a Lesser. Can you post like ten pictures with only you knowing the true identity of each picture and have us guess?

I think I can tell the difference pretty accurately... it's a little more difficult to distinguish between lessers and butters. I know butters have more yellow, but I've seen some pretty colorful lessers too (unless they were trying to confuse me and pawn off... nevermind).
