1200 is the even number total , weird ;)

Great job. A buddy of mine breeds tons of rats in Florida. He weens 1000 a week.

Last count I made I had 105 about two days ago. I was feeling pretty proud til I read 1200... lol. Thats a LOT of RATS!

My current rat counts including breeders, feeders and young with females is only at around 60. That's more than enough to feed the snakes other than the milksnake who eats f/t mice and the big boa who eats the mutant jumbo rats that aren't worth my time raising up just for him. Easier to just buy for Rauri and Emi.

That's a LOT of rat turds to clean up Bryan! Better you than me bud LOL :P

My rats are gone just about as fast as I breed them. If I don't feed them off another breeder takes some, then if there are any left they go to the pet stores. They never make it past the small stage. :D Just the way I like it. Retired breeders get prekilled and frozen for the boas.

That is an assload of rats!

Yup, that's how the big boys roll ... My "rat guy" is supplying about 1800 - 2000 each week roughly to his customers.

YEah it is more rat poop than I plan on seeing in my life time. I think he goes through about two fifty pound bags of rat food a day. And that is not including the mice. Todd

If I ever wean 1000-2000 a week, please shoot me :)


These are just for me, a friend,and no clue what to do with extras, taking them to a show again this weekend.

I would love to keep them at the "small" stage :)

When your rats are in growing up wire cages. And you move their poop with a tracktor. You are a RATMAN. When I helped out one day I realized how big I never wanted to go.

I am at a very low amount now; two breeder males; 5 breeder females with only one on 7 babies and two preggos. I had a huge overbreeding kast month though with around 80 rats! I am trying to get it right; this is too-low an amount now, and it was too high before.. yikes!

That is kind of the give and take of breeding. All females in an enclosure tend to drop within a week of each other. This can give a feast or famine type cycle.

The majority of rats and mice that I sell are pinkies. I sell about 1500 a month right now and another 300 various other sizes. Im currently in the process of building up to 1000 breeder rats and 900 breeder mice. While I dont move their poop with a tractor I do fill up the bed of my pickup truck weekly.

I'll probably end up breeding rats...eventually. I just don't think the apartment complex I'm living right now would appreciate it. ^_^

Yay, another female dropped. 10 pups. I feel so pathetic having only two girls with babes; I had so many extras last month!

My rats never smell; I use pine shavings and change them weekly (never had any respiratory issues and will switch to aspen the day it happens, should it ever. Been breeding them for years.)
