Leo Update (DU'ers Better rethink clicking!)
The first hatchlings of this year are getting big! I had them out cleaning their tubs so I decided what better time to take pictures! They are both puppydog tame, and I've actually sexed them now...both girls!
Here they are!

Her eyes haven't changed a bit, still completely black, refered to as eclipse eyes. :) I hope it proves genetic down the line.

Her color is holding, and gaining more orange! She's got unusual eyes also, I believe they are refered to as snake eyes. I guess Garrick has been having them pop up in his breedings also. (Purchased the parents of these from him)

Re: Leo Update (DU'ers Better rethink clicking!)
looking good! :gj: any other hatchlings yet besides those two? (not that these 2 aren't quite wonderful :P )
Re: Leo Update (DU'ers Better rethink clicking!)
I had one more normal hatch so far, its siblings egg went bad. And the other clutches from the two's parents went bad because I mixed the medium too wet. Currently I have 10 eggs in the incubator with a few due in about 2 weeks, and the last laid due in about two months. So I'll be up to my ears in leos. Right now I'm giving my females some recoup time without the males. They've done very good this season for me, I've just made a few mistakes incubating along the way.

awesome! can't wait to see more pics of hatchlings. being up to your ears in geckos is a good thing. :D
Re: Leo Update (DU'ers Better rethink clicking!)
Yes it is! Well as long as you are FedEx certified, guess I gotta get working on that! ;)
By the way, I took some shots of the little normal male hatchling for you. He's definitely got some spunk to him, classic normal w/ some cool lavander stripes running down each side.

aw he is cute! those stripes down his sides are pretty neat too.
btw, you can ship geckos via UPS without any kind of certification. just an option (the one i use at the moment). :)

Really?! I suppose I package him the same as I would normally, but box him up labeled live harmless animal? Fragile? What would I select for shipping options? Does UPS have a priority overnight option?
Nvm, I would use UPS Next day air Early A.M. or UPS Next Day Air 10:30. Interesting!
Just curious because he is one I'll be letting go of.

Re: Leo Update (DU'ers Better rethink clicking!)
Thanks for the pics...they're all looking great!
Re: Leo Update (DU'ers Better rethink clicking!)
Right now they are on a diet of mealies, constant supply dusted with MinerAll. They also receive the occasional sm crickets, but its easier and more economical to feed mealies (breeding my own!) and they've fattened up fast on them.
The male will be with me for another week or two and then I'll post when he's for sale, if anyone is interested PM me.

yes, package them the same as you would if shipping fedex with an insulated box and whatnot and ship next day air. you might need to add a cold pack too depending on where you are sending them--it can get terribly hot on the truck and possibly in some of the warehouses along the way too.
i also feed mainly mealworms to hatchlings and juvies but they do seem to enjoy crickets from time to time too. you are certainly right about mealworms being a ton easier though.

Are you still breeding leos for this season, or have your cresties taken over? This whole cute crestie thing is getting to me, and their ease of care...must resist the cuteness!

Re: Leo Update (DU'ers Better rethink clicking!)
i've only bred one of my females thus far but have no babies yet (i sold the 2 other adult females that i bred last year). i have another female that is ready to breed but i haven't put her with a male yet...i want to but i have SO many crested babies now and a full incubator with many more eggs to come so i kind of hesitating on making more work for myself than i can handle. i do have 2 other female leos (LVPAs) that are just about ready but i have to get them an LVPA male to breed with and i'm kind of picky about choosing one and just haven't found one i like. (well i did, but of course i was broke at the time so i missed out :( .)
you do need a crestie. they are the best! the cutest! the most irresistablest! :D
Re: Leo Update (DU'ers Better rethink clicking!)
Pure evil.
However, I must resist...I first need to find myself a beautiful female Bell line Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tail for my beauty of a Bell Albino male. And a pair of Sunglows. :)
Here's my Bell Male:

He was one of the first two leos I ever got, so he deserves a special project female. Hopefully Hybinos in my future.

Re: Leo Update (DU'ers Better rethink clicking!)
Oh wow! He's awesome looking! If anyone ever asks why they call 'em "leapord" geckos...just show them those pictures!
Re: Leo Update (DU'ers Better rethink clicking!)
My first female is the classic leopard gecko...I like to refer to her as my snow leopard. High white gecko with dark black spots all over. I'll have to get some pictures of her after she sheds.

Re: Leo Update (DU'ers Better rethink clicking!)
wow that male is gorgeous! good luck finding him just the right mate. :) hybinos are awesome too...i really wish i had time for my cresteds AND more leo projects.
Re: Leo Update (DU'ers Better rethink clicking!)
Very cool. Are those top 2 patternless? Look a lot like mine. I got 2 eggs in the incubator now actually. Just normals. I will be keeping them because theres a bit of a story behind them. I think that cresties are starting to become more and more popular.

The first one I belive is a Leucistic LG. And the second one is the one with the pattern. There are only 2 different LG's in his first post. Right?

The first one is a Las Vegas Blizzard with Eclipse eyes (totally black(no visible pupils)...and the second one is a LV Albino.
Technically the blizzard is cannot be deemed leucistic due to his eclipse eyes, a true lucy would have steel blue-grey eyes.;)
