    Helix or Herpstat?
Hi Everyone...I currently use a Ranco but have decided to upgrade to a proportional. I am looking for some recommendations on which is better and why? Also, the best place (i.e. price) of where to buy from.

    Thanks everyone.

It's my understanding that thermostat choice is not a life or death issue ... at least that's what I've been told. ;) :gj:

Well someone had to get everyone riled up around here...we haven't had a good or bad debate in at least the last 24 hours...way too long. :P

Actually...I didn't even think to use the search function...but once I did I found the info...I think I am leaning toward a Herpstat (seems neither is the clear winner...so it comes down to cost) ...so where is the cheapest place to get one? Ebay and the usual places turned up nothing?

Actually both Google and Froogle were useless I got a few of the top sites back but all were around $108+. Just seeing you the experts knew of a less known site for great deals.

I second that...But if you were to want to go the Helix route, you could get one at www.reptilebasics.com . Rich is a great guy and has all the heating supplies you would want.

If you decide to go with herpstat, Matt at www.mgreptiles.com is a sponsor of this site, and if you decide to go with helix, Rich at www.reptilebasics.com is a great guy too.

The Herpstat sells most places for $108. You can get it direct from Spyder Robotics. www.spyderrobotics.com .

Just to clarify... MGReptiles, RDR, and all the rest...are advertisors, not sponsors of the site. They pay a small fee for the sole purpose of promoting their own business on our site. Whereas, a sponsor is someone who actually takes some financial responsibility for the site and may get some advertising benefits in the process.

BP.net has no sponsors. All costs of running, maintaining, and upgrading the site are covered by the Administrators.

I just wanted to make this clarification because a lot of people seem to be under the mistaken assuption that advertising here gives one special privledges or certain influences with the administration. This is not the case. They paid for the priveledge of advertising their business and that is the only difference between our advertisors and any other member of the site.

"Sponsor" vs. "Advertiser" aside, kudos to Ken for some great advice and trying to help ... and kudos to JLC (and the rest of the mod/admin crew) for always being there to jump in and make everything clear for the sites members ... I like it! :D

    ROCK ON guys! ;)

    That's cool...

The next time I'm watching sports, or listening to it on the radio, it'd be really cool to actually hear 'em say "Now for a word from our advertisers"
