Dumb Video, *warning* most defintely will upset you

I wanted to post this to show some people who dont understand why sometimes very strict laws are put in place about snakes,

I will tell you before you decide to watch that the video is of 2 guys eggin on a boa to get her to bit them

This video is exactly why laws are put in place and people are hurt and killed, sometimes people are bitten or killed by accident, the guys in this video did it purely for a thrill, I dont condone this video and I posted it here because not many "snake haters" visit this site, I dont want to create more of a bad name for the hobby ....its just ive had a few friends and accuitances ask me after seeing my critters why there are so many laws etc etc

Glad they dont care that the snake might get teeth yanked out in the process and all the fun stuff that can lead to.

I am not sure why you would want to share something with such potential to incite people and get them worked up.

That is amazing. I think the most upseting part about it is that people treat these animals like they are toys.


That is how you train an animal to be agressive towards people.

Actually I'd have to disagree. I don't think you can train any animal to be "aggressive towards people". That's not training....that's abusing an animal until it reacts, that's teaching it fear and loathing of the human smell and associating that with a need to defend itself but it's sure not training, at least in my books.

As far as a video like that, some folks like to look at car wrecks and some folks don't.

Looked more like a "I'm scared, please go away" bite to me...poor thing. =P

I took the time to review the video... I am saddened by thier lack of respect for such a marvelous creature that they have no right to abuse. This animal is NOT being trained to react this way, it is merely defending itself from the nasty mean humans who have no right to have any animal in thier possession.

I am very disappointed that this video was even posted because it is very distasteful and hardly appropriate. Yes, snake haters "that we know of" do not hang at this site, but there are also lurkers who may be and this video only helps to spread thier reasons for making laws that are very restrictive to ppl who care for thier animals right.

I would love to wipe their smug smiles of their faces... idiots

I don't see how this video would particularly help the case of anyone trying to restrict people's rights to keep reptiles -- it's quite obvious that the poor snake was intentionally provoked by two idiots who _wanted_ to get bitten.

On the other hand, I'm not sure that there's anything to be gained by sharing it, particularly here, where it will just upset people.

He needs to clean his room.

I used to have a pitt bull and they most certainly can be trained to be agressive towards people. In the case of this video training was probably the wrong word to use. Training implies that it is intentional to teach them something. What these guys in this video are doing inadvertantly is teaching the snake to be defensive when humans approach them. If they do this frequently enough the snake will assume that any human approaching them will have the same behavior as these idiots. It will automatically become defensive.

States make laws against owning certain animals because they get abused and become aggressive towards humans because of the abuse. In all cases it is not intentional, but it does happen.

I'm sorry, but I laughed at this video because the two guys are so stupid! C'mon, one of them doesn't even have front teeth. He looks as dumb as he sounds.

The guy that got bit needs to invest in a toothbrush or I guess should have invested in a tooth brush.

Second how can you say they were trying to teach the snake to be aggressive to or towards anything??? All they did was place a rodent in front of the snake and get the rodent smell in the air than place their very warm hand in front of it's nose, kinda like a lot of folks have been bitten and choose to call a " feeding error "
While I whole heartly agree what they did was wrong and folks like them shouldn't own anything at all because there idiots. And the fact the video has no place being on here, I do think folks on here tend to overreact and jump to conclusions ie teaching them to hate human smell , be aggressive etc

There "trick" was a mistake quite a few novice snake owners have made =
Food and then hand to close to mouth.

Also the member who posted this has posted a few other vidoes that really should not have been posted on here, go figure!

that wasn't at the expense of the animal, that animal already bit obviously, did you not hear the guy at the end say "i knew it was going to happen", the snake was obviously a biter before and if you call rubbing the snakes head provoking then I provoke mine all the time but you don't see me getting bit on the hand. Sorry guys that I don'tsee this as wrong, snakes bite. Me and my fiance go down to a local lake and catch snakes when we try to touch them they bite and we laugh is this wrong if we video tape it and put it on the web so people can laugh at us?

I do the EXACT SAME THING ... except I am alone ... and I don't touch the snakes or catch them, I take pictures ... and I don't get bit ever ... but I do laugh ... A LOT!!! :sweeet:

I kept a water snake once that I caught but then I let her go. What snakes do you usually find and take pictures of? Alan kept a water moccasin for a week then let him go. He was a baby and was very cute and surprisingly tame. He is a venophile.

I'm usually on the hunt for 100% pure bred mississippi black snake, but it ain't easy to find in these parts. :sweeet:

I just found the whole thing unnecessary, and I'm sure most of the viewers are not going to have a lot of knowledge about snakes, and it's just going to feed the bad reputation fire that snakes have for many people.

And he is lucky he only got struck at.

we probably have those here we live close-ish to mississippi. But I've yet to see one on our hunt for snakes. Just a whole lot of water snakes/moccasins, black king snakes, blue racers, ribbon snakes, and garter snakes.

I agree with you on that will stir up the already bad reputation of snakes. But I do not agree with some of the people that said it was animal cruelty, now if he gave that snake a good punch to the face then I would agree that that was creulty but rubbing the head was not abuse. But again i do agree with the bad rep thing.
