Rusty Reptiles is back around....
Hello all,
I've missed my forum friends a great deal.
For the last six months I was a working horse pulling a minimum of 70 hour work weeks at the fish store. Sadly a few weeks ago I was laid off. Being a new store I watched the owners money dwindle and sadly he was no longer able to pay me my salary.
So for now as I look for another job all of my energy has been spent on the rescue and my boys.
A bit of an update:
Even with working a great deal the rescue was still operating in full force.
We have taken in and adopted out a good number of our scaley friends. From boas (lots of boas) to frogs and wildlife for rehabilitation we have kept quite busy. I am hoping to use my time wisely before I start back at a new job. So my main focus (besides the daily cleaning, feeding and general care) has been on promoting our name and trying to book educational shows. Since our shows are the only way to get donations for food and vet care costs that has been primarily my main focus. Haopefully we will get a few more booking soon, but nothing major on the horizon sadly.
My boys are doing ok, Griffin will be turning 7 on June 28th and is very excited about that. He is progressing much better at his reading and general school work compared to the late start in the beginning of the school year.
Winslow has also been busy, as you know he is the main heart and soul of the rescue operation and its spring time which means mounatin biking is also his main priority.
This past week he did fall ill with a rush of seizures do to his medical issues but we are trying some new meds that will hopefully get us over this hump.
Well I've really missed you guys and hello to the new members that I see around, it's great to see the forum is still hopping.
Feel free to fill me in on the latest happenings and I should be around I think I have a lot of catch up reading to do.
Talk with everyone soon,
Rusty
PS I thought I would list some newcomers to Rusty Reptiles:

Re: Rusty Reptiles is back around....
You were sorely missed around here Rusty! So sorry about the job though, I hope a new and better one is just around the corner for you. Your rescue work as always just blows me away and I know we all love hearing the stories behind the work your family does.
Re: Rusty Reptiles is back around....
Thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome! All of your kind words always cheer me up.
As for the job I am actually thinking about finding a clerical job. It would be easier for me to not have to manage anyone and just assist someone. It will give me much more time to spend with the family, and leave me the energy I need to work the rescue the way it needs to be worked.
I'm not saying that a clerical job isn't hard, so no one who may be in that line of work please don't be offended, but it would be easier then dealing with a bi polor boss, working 70 hours a week and running a store on my own.
Plus I can work set hours so I can actually get Winslow to the Doctor when needed, and I can leave my work at the office.
As for today just more cleaning, feeding and medicating those in need.
Thanks again, I am so thrilled to be back!
Rusty
Re: Rusty Reptiles is back around....
Hey just a thought here Rusty. If you've got some decent clerical skills what about being a Kelly girl? I worked for Kelly Services years ago and just loved it. Tons of interesting, varied assignments and I could set my own hours of availability. They don't pay the big top dollar but for me, the flexibility was perfect and if something came up I could just put myself unavailable for a few days or a week or two. I also loved getting to learn about a lot of different companies but not getting involved in their office politics or the gossip around the water cooler LOL.
Re: Rusty Reptiles is back around....
That's a good idea Jo, I'll have to look into that.
Thanks
Rusty
