    Severus is home at last!
Sev got here at 10:15 a.m. this morning none the worse for his little overnight trip in a box LOL. Typical boa personality he came out curious and friendly, no hissing, no strike position, just sort of..."hi ya, how are ya? this my new place? cool, ya got any rats or mice? can I sit with that kid? pics? ya wanna take pics? sure!"

Gotta love boa's! He's all tucked up now in this new tub. As I type he's in his warm side hide with his sweet face poking out keeping an eye on stuff and probably waiting for dinner to wander by LOL.

Thanks again Lynn. Beautiful packaging job! He showed up in perfect shape!

Pic of Sev and my cell phone just for a size reference.

Oh forgot to say this. Lynn he's better than we could have imagined! His pattern is so tight and clean! What lovely markings! His jaw misalignment is so slight it's almost unnoticeable and his little tail curl is too cute for words. Not even a kink just a little curl LOL

    What a lovely little boa!

I'm just glad he's to a good home. He was a good little boy... and, like I told Jo, I can't WAIT to see him grow up. He's going to be so beautiful. :)

Actually still loads of room Chris LOL. We have a spare room (it was originally a private sitting room off the master bedroom) that is the designated BP room and that's still got room in it for more BP's and an incubator this fall. Beth's milksnake lives in the livingroom in her display cage. Severus will eventually live in the diningroom in his big display cage.

For now it's a bit crazy though with Severus the BCI in his quarantine in one room and Muirne in her quarantine in another but hey...it's exciting!

I saw that Chris and I swear if I could sell a kidney on ebay that group would be mine! Lord but those are lovely snakes and that's a more than fair price for them. I could just about weep that they aren't in the budget right now but dang so tempting to dream isn't it.

Aw, nice addition. I like his light coloration. He seems very friendly and laid back; the awesome thing about most BCI :)

Just a quick update on little Sev. He's settled in beautifully and has taken feedings from us. He transferred over from mice to rat pups with no trouble at all...got to love that BCI feeding response lol. Easy as pie to handle, you can tell he's been well and carefully handled. He's a typical curious, laid back BCI. Poor little fella is currently in shed but still coming out to see what's up.

All and all just a lovely little male BCI and thanks again to Lynn (ladywhipple) for sending him to Luke. :) Luke is up in Canada for 1/2 of the summer with his grandparents so hasn't yet had his hands on Severus yet but I know he'll be really happy with him. Meanwhile we get to spoil Sev rotten LOL.

He was eating live when he was with me... I think Jo was planning on doing the same.

He's a live feeder as are the snakes here. Even the little milksnake will take live but she's fed f/t because quite honestly I don't want to breed mice for her LOL.

I would really like if you would get him on f/t or at least f/k. Its not a risk thats needed to feed live rats since most boas will take dead prey. Just my oppinion

Thanks for your opinion which you have repeatedly expressed to me in AIM and I believe I'll give you the same answer here I gave you there. Responsible feeding of appropriate prey is a keeper's personal decision and one we as a community support. I thank you for your input, however, Mike and I will continue to feed what and how we see fit for our collection and I'd expect you to do the same.

I have to agree with Jo on this one. There is nothing wrong with feeding live if done responsibly. I feed all of mine live, never had an issue with it, and will continue to do so, because it's what works best for me.

If f/t works best for you, then by all means, feed f/t. But it's a little presumptious to think that someone is going to switch to your method of feeding because you would really like them to.

Most of the folks here have enough information about about all the methods of feeding to make a well thought out decision about the method of feeding that they prefer and works best for them and their collection.

The freedom of educated and responsible choice is a true blessing of this message board. There are other boards where one's educated and responsible choice is regarded as true heresy, in that when your method goes against what is the ingrained, "one true way", and certainly does not promote free thought, learning and/or sharing.

    I speak from experience. =P

And that is not how we roll.

Thank you for your well-worded responses.

Amen, Robin. I've always fed my kids, live, and as a responsible herp owner, I take a special amount of time out of my day to devote to watching them feed, making sure they are not injured, and waiting until the entire consumption is over with, until I go out again.

Whatever method works best for the reptiles and the owners is the best method for them. As long as an owner is responsible, feeding live is just as safe as feeding f/t.
