    Silly Snake!
Well we recently saw the light and put all the BP's on paper. Enough with shreds of aspen floating merrily through the room and it's helping with humidity levels during the current muggy weather in Toledo. So anyway....

All our females did a little snoopy slither under their new paper. All well and good and back to regular business for the ladies but not Malachi the male...nope he's gotta slither to a different drummer LOL

Not only has he decided that's it's very cool to go under his paper but he has to then curl up under the paper, under his hide! Big ole lump of snake, lovely tent of paper over him, then perched ever so attractively on top is his blue plastic cereal bowl hide. Since he's almost grown out of it anyways, it's rather attractive up there...almost like a derby hat LMAO!

I think I shall take a picture of this....title it "Snake Under Paper With Dollar Store Bowl On Top" and sell it to the first bored-with-life New York socialite I can find. I'm sure I'll be the new rage in alternative artists and become insanely rich! Oh and they'll see all sorts of symbolism in it of course (people it's a snake...under some paper...and a bowl....get a life! LMAO)

Snakes are silly but then so am I ;)

A'kashja does this now too. She hides underneath the repticarpet and comes into her other hides only at night. Its not a big deal, they are burrowing animals so I guess this simulates burrowing. At Adam's shop, I remeber most all of his adult animals hiding under the paper. Its natural.

That's too funny Jo! I've recently done the same thing, and saved the aspen for the hamster! It's just easier. Mine have taken to almost cuddling with their newspaper. Definitely quirky snakes. ;)

Oh geesh Brad I'm glad it's not only me! It seriously bugged me that Malachi was "messing" up his cage and I had to stop myself from putting him in his hide "properly". Glad I'm not the only obsessive type around LOL

Mine started hiding too. but I know I have OCD so I went back to Aspen... Now my male sleeps on his branch and every night at 12:15 am he falls out in to the water dish... LOL It is a never ending battle... :sabduel:

One reason I changed from paper to aspen was because the hides kept migrating all over the enclosure! Drove me NUTS I tell ya, NUTS!!! LOL

However, I am thinking of switching back, if I can get my OCD under control.

It's not about where the "owner" likes the hide or wants the snake to feel safe, it's all about the snake!

Get over it and let them set up their house the way they want. ;)

It's good to be reminded - thanks Adam. =)

Carmen drives me nuts because she refuses to have anything to do with the "warm side" of her cage these days. She'll curl up around the plant in that corner (but on the base of the plant, not the cage floor), or along the walls...but never on the warm spot. I keep checking the temp above the warm side UTH - bam, 92 degrees. Guess she likes it cooler...but she curls up where she wants!

This morning I found her in her cool side hide, which like...never happens. She's definitely a nominee for the silly snake award!

Reverse snakey OCD: "Omg, do you *know* how it took me to just the paper scrunched JUST RIGHT and then you go and straighten it and mess it all up?! Bah! I'll show you...I'm going to poop on the bare floor and then not eat...neener."

I think that today the snakes had it in for me for cleaning out their cages. Nice new paper, fresh water the lot. And not an hour later, poop in, on around the paper in the water dishes.

I swear they had just gone like 2 days ago, And I spot cleaned and made the note to clean out and do the whole of the cages. And if they didnt do it to vex me i dont know what. Even the New RTB left me a load that was above and beyond........lol

SO I had to redo the whole thing again, wit hthe stern words of not this time pls ladies n gents. Or there will be boots in your futures..........lol (no i would never turn my scalies into boots) but there wasnt a mess in any of the cages this evening.

I now have poo samples from everyone and have them all labeled and ready for the vet. Im sure the vet will love me for the RTB's took a gallon zip lock to hold it all.
