Whats the most...

Whats the most you've ever paid for a reptile(snake,fog,lizard etc).Whats the most your willing to pay?
I've seen balls for $20,000....would/could you do it?

I guess I'm just a pet person when it comes to reptiles. I'd pay up to 3500.00 for a show puppy,;) but reptiles my tops would be maybe 200.

i'm pretty sure Id pay about $300 for a cat, and about $600 for a dog. but as far as repitles, not all that much.

Yup, I do every year ... and I've even done more than that on a single snake! ... Ball pythons ROCK! :D

the most ive paid for a reptile was $230 for my red ackie. i was willing to pay $300-$350 but i found $230 on kingsnake and it was Frank Retes so i did it. i wouldnt be able to pay $20,000 for a pet. im only 13.:rolleyes:

well mister...you had more than me at 13!

$90 for Akua, but if i had the money and the money haha i would buy 3-5 pieds cause i love that morph the most! oh and spider haha no wait all of them!!! hehe i paid $45 for Sleet and $35 for seismo when i had a tegu i got him for $60 but i traded him for a ball python named akua(he was priced at $90)

Well, since I can't afford any morphs, I can't spend anything more than a few hundred dollars on one snake.....in fact, most of my BPs were free. 4/10 were rescue/adoptions, 2/10 I produced, 1/10 I got for $10 and the rest I bought for $50-$200....which is why I have to try to do breeding loans and/or buy hets and produce my own morphs....the rest i own only in dreamland, which is way too far for me to drive to...esp with the price of gas..:P!!!!

yeah, im a pretty lucky kid actually. my parents pay for all the feeders for my reptiles. i need to get a job next year when im 14.

Combined for all of my snakes I've paid approximately $1000...and a bit more for caging, tstat, food, supplies. The most expensive of the snakes were my adult females..specifically the poss het girl. (hopefully worth every penny) :) Not too shabby for a college student salary. Before the snakes my tortoise was the most expensive herp at $120.

For a pet? Not much, I'm a cheapskate.

For an investment? A lot, as long as I considered my odds good of making that back....


Would I keep a 20k snake as a pet if I ended up breeding him myself or he/she paid for themselves through breeding? yup :) BP's are cool



Most I would pay for a cat? Adoption fees at a shelter, there are way too many stray dogs and cats for me to justify paying people to breed them. (yeah I know, irony)

i agree with Snakey, cause shelters are overflowing with unwanted dogs and cats, amny of them purebreds, but you don't see too many shelters overflowing with reptiles!!! It is ironic how some people wouldn't pay more than $100 for a good quality reptile but pay over $1000 for a dog??!!!!! Me, personally I'm the opposite....I can find a stray cat for free anywhere...wouldn't pay more than an adoption fee for a dog, but I'd pay a nice chunk o' change for a pair of hets...plus they don't bark, scratch up the furniture,or shed fur all over the place, and require no housetraining!!..:P

That and almost every stray cat or dog Ive had are extremely loveable and great animals, while a lot of the purebred dogs/cats ive met/seen are highstrung and not as sociable (this is not a rule, just some experience)

About five years ago, I had never personally spent more than $150 on an animal, and I couldn't see how people could drop 2 grand or more on a single snake. Now after spending close to $20 K total on snakes in the past two years, I have gone full circle, and can't wait to drop $8-10 K on a single animal. I blame a lot of this on Adam, as we bought our first morph from him. :rockon: Although, I still don't know how much I would spend on a non-BP.....

you lucky dog you... my parents ither made me pay or they would buy but i had to work it off errg when i was 12 i got a tegu, $60 that took F O R E V E R to pay off hehe but now i work with my mom and i make money so i can just go ooh that looks cool and i can get it haha

For pets, $200ish I think is a good limit...maybe in the future when a) we have more room, b) I get a big raise and c) Rick is in the doghouse for doing something dumb, I might be able to get d) a PIED!

But $5k is hard to swallow for as a "pet", which is what my pied would most likely be as I don't think I'm interesting in breeding.

I paid around 150 for our BCI. I plan on buying a male albino BP in the next few months but don't want to exceed 2500 for that. :)
