rescued BP
Recently we rescued a large BP from our local humane society. :D I was surprised that it was in pretty good shape. Terrible setup, no hides, 55 gallon tank , no thermometer. I was shocked to see it so well. The humane society was told that it was a male although the people who relienquished it was not sure.
It weighed in a 3020 grams. :O I was also told it was 5-6 years old. Great personality. Biggest snake I've ever handled.
My question is does that seem right for a male at this age? Female maybe ??? **fingers crossed** I have plans on getting it probed, but just curious now.
I have attached a pic of our current "rack". I like using that word makes me feel like I know what I'm doing:cool: . He's in the bottom, 41 qt sterelite. Anyway this makes 2 BP, 2 Corns and soon a pair of LTR's.

Re: rescued BP
Congrats on the new addition. It does sound a bit big for a male. I hope he turns out to be a she.
I would advise that you quarantine this new guy/girl from your other collection. I'm not sure about disease transmission between colubrids and pythons, but I would err on the side of caution. Minimally a couple weeks, just to make sure you have a mite free bp. I believe it's 3 weeks for eggs to hatch, if it happens to be carrying any.
Anyway, best of luck with this new (hopefully girl) bp. What a wonderful find! :D When do we get to see pics of him/her?

Re: rescued BP
Its been roughly 3 weeks and then we put Sayani with the others. I remeber hearing many of you talking about the importance of quarantine. Soon to follow will be a fecal test. Interestingly he came from the Green Igauna, Ralph Davis's store prior to him going private. hmmm.....
We measured approx. 4' 5". I'm hoping to get more pics up soon.

Sounds like you found yourself a real treasure there! Congrats!
And that's a nice lookin' setup you have there. How hard is it to maintain heat and humidity in the wicker enclosures? :P ;)
