The Vomitore Offer
Lately I've been noticing a lot of rescues/adoptions. It breaks my heart to see these poor animals in such terrible shape. So, I want to help out. Each month, if there's a rescue/adoption where an animal is in need of medical care ect, I will offer to send one person a month, 75.00 either Paypal or m/o. Whatever you feel most comfortable with. However, I want people who have experience with animals, and have knowledge of recouping an animal to rescue/adopt. We are here to help each other in our daily adventures with our critters so if you feel that you can care for such an animal, DONT hesitate to ask for help and tips. I just don't want someone to adopt a pet, who cannot meet the pets needs when it comes to general care and basically put the creature in the same spot they were rescued from.
Do I want to be paid back? Either way doesn't matter to me. I just want to have some creatures, such as snakes to have a chance at a happy and healthy life. They already get enough slack for doing just as nature intended them to do. No need for them to be mistreated this way.
How do I want the money spent? I only want it spent on the creature that is being saved. Vet, food, housing ect are fine. Don't spend it on buying something that doesnt benefit the creature.
Who's eligable? If you are brand new member, I would be unsure of helping the person out. Only do to it's still my money, and if it's for someone who has only been on the site for 2 weeks I would feel unsure of sending them money.
Other then that I think I covered all the bases. I'm only doing this for the love of the animals and the hopeful future of them having a good life.

Re: The Vomitore Offer
Hey wanna put a small investment to my rescue? I rescue all reptiles from beardies to nile monitors. I guarentee they all eat better than i do. The homes i rehome to get a weekly visit from my for a year and then i will go back every 6 months.
I could use help in getting food for them.
Here is my wekly output for them.
INsect eating lizards:
8 tubs each cricketes, mealworms, grubs, and locusts. 9 dollars a tub
3 jars each of vit and calcium powder, 8 dollars a piece.
Meat eating lizards:
30 pounds of butcher off cut Cubed half and half minced. 40 dollars Crushed bone included for calcium and I add vit powder to that.
Veg n fruit Lizards:
10 pounds carrots, greenbeans, grapes, peas in the pod, apples, banannas, turnip with greens, cost 40 dollars
Snakes and other rodent eaters:
150 mice in various sizes, 30 dollars
75 rats in various sizes, 20 dollars
9 rabbits 10 dollars
2 lambs ( donated from the local farmer)
Vet supplies for the month for all my scalie rescues, 250
I generally run in the red by a third. around 150 a month short. I make it up any way i can and seem to keep things going.
If this is the worthy rescue cause you are lookinf ofr then i will more than welcome your help. I will even post your name on the wall as a contributer.
And I do follow up on all rehomings to make absolute sure they are cared for properly.
PM me if this interests you.

Re: The Vomitore Offer
Mike I think that's a lovely offer and very caring of you to want to help out some of our members that do a lot of rescues. I might suggest instead of always being straight up cash you could offer to buy a small frozen feeder order (or place money on their account with their preferred feeder supplier) or a gift certificate from a supplier either online or local to the them for such things as bedding, etc. Even a donation to their vet to be placed as a credit on their account could easily be done. Just some ideas......

How did I miss this Mike? It really warms my heart reading this and what a wonderful thing to do! My hats off to you!

Re: The Vomitore Offer
Sounds great, yet I caution you to ask for some type of follow up on the particular animal. From many years of rescue work I have found the need to check things out when possible. Kudos to you for caring so much!!! Some critter out there is always in need of help. Not enough good folks to go around!!:colbert2:

Re: The Vomitore Offer
That is soooooooo loving Mike!!!
After being here on this site a while, and some ideas from you fantastic members, I've been starting the networking to get my name out as a snakey rescue. I don't have room for the giants, and even after college experience, I don't have the set up or want hots, but my leaving my phone number at the local pet store is how I got Freddie. :D :carrot:
And yesterday when getting cat food, I posted at PetCo on their BB. I'm even going to talk to my sister about some simple business cards and a website. :)
What you're doing is just AWESOME and kind!! The world definitely needs more fantastic peoples like YOU.

Re: The Vomitore Offer
Thanks everyone. I appreciate the kind words! Unfortunately there is people who think I'm foolish for doing this. Yeah, it's a lil crazy for sending money out to people who I don't know. But you know what? These poor creatures don't get any respect or love. I live for this kind of flack from people! I love to look at people and give em the finger and say to them, what would you rather do when you die? Look back and say "Wow, I saved a lot of money for being a heartless stingy (censored)!". I'd rather look back and say "I had the funds to help out when I could and not turn my cheek and not listen to those who cannot speak to us. Just because they slither, walk on all fours or hop doesnt mean the dont bleed, hurt, or fear the hand that feeds them.". Life is measured by those who you have helped. Not those who you said "Sorry, I need this 5.00 for an emergency.". Well? isn't helping out a badly injured or hungry creature an emergency?
I do this out of personal experience. Growing up I was, and still pretty much am a loner and had to grow up and shape myself to be what I know I had to be. Knowing this, I know that I can help the people who go out of their way to help creatures who get a bad wrap, and it's sad because you hear people say "Oh that poor dog!" ... You hardly hear "Oh that poor snake!" ... I usually hear from people "It's just a snake ... snakes are mean!". Yeah? Just a snake huh? Well, how 'bout we imagine a world without snakes? Hmmm, we got a nasty rodent problem, which leads to nasty break outs of disease from an overgrwoing amount of rodent filth. These poor creatures can't choose their families. But, we can choose to help them have a better life. So as long as I can, I'll help out any way possible!

Re: The Vomitore Offer
Mike the sad fact of life is sometimes when we offer to help, whether it's financial or otherwise, we'll get burned or taken advantage of. For me anyways, that's not a reason to stop trying to help, to stop believing in the basic goodness of humanity. I'll take the occasional con job, might feel like crap or a sucker for awhile, but then something always happens to make me believe that it's always right for me to be a "pollyanna". I might wear a pair of rose colored glasses but better that than dark shades that keep away whatever is bright in this world.
Your offer is a fine and decent one Mike. Don't let the naysayers make you doubt yourself. Yes, of course, you should be careful with your hard earned funds but hey in the end....it's your cash bud! Hey there's folks that burn $75.00 or way more every weekend at the local bar and have nothing to show from it but a headache the next morning. You care and you're trying to help and for that you deserve a lot of credit.

Yeah, the world goes round and round 'cause of conflict. However, it's ok. You can't worry your whole life about what bad could come of you. You have to sometimes think if they benefit, then it's worth it.
