Well, Bushmaster has been around for a while. I am going to be up their way on Saturday for a golf tournament. Maybe I should call them and see if they would let me come see them .....

Re: ummm Blue eyes Lucy scam?
It's not a scam ... those animals are imports ... they're priced cheap because their genetics are not verifiable.
Kind of like when people sell hets on the classifieds without paperwork ... they're sold cheap because they're hard to move at the same price as verifiable hets from a breeder with a reputation for excellence.
Kamuran didn't produce those animals, he's just flipping them for a small profit.
I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. ;)

:carrot:
I was telling Jaime yesterday, with the same amount of money I was planning on spending early this year, I'll pick up 3-4 more morphs. Of course, I'll buy and pick them up at shows where I can see what I'm buying from Jimmy.

Re: ummm Blue eyes Lucy scam?
Saw these as well, and spoke to someone who said they were imports as well. Not the kind of animal I would like to drop 13k on , or even 10k for a pair of lessers.
Then again, I dont have 13k :)
-
Re: ummm Blue eyes Lucy scam?
Yes I agree, I had talked to another breeder here in Denver a while back and he had said that they deal in imports .... and I definitely don't have that kind of $$ to spend either.

Hahahahaha...I needed that!
Thanks B ;)
Regardless of the "quality" it was still exciting to see an ad and picture for the BEL!!

Re: ummm Blue eyes Lucy scam?
Apparently someone had the $13K!
According to them, it was sold!

I guess if you have the money to gamble on proving the genetic...*shrug*...

Re: ummm Blue eyes Lucy scam?
I wouldn't know what that's like. Being a college student, getting piss for pay, and barely being able to pay for a rack...Meh.
Rich bastards!

I emailed them to inquire about it with a few simple questions, they replied within 10 minutes that it had been sold. Then again you're right, who knows!
Maybe someone having $13K to burn and interest in BP's would jump at it thinking they're getting a great deal.

Are all morphs traced back to WC/CH stock that was exported from Africa? Don't the big breeders regularly speculate with big $$$'s on whether a new and unusual snake is genetic? Why is this case different? Of course I personally don't have that kind of money to speculate with, but if I did...I would consider it. (Of course, that consideration would involve a LOT of research into and discussion with the person selling to make sure they are legit.)

Everything except for the designer morphs (those being morphs that are not naturally occuring in the wild).

I don't see how buying a 13K snake and having no idea what produced it or what it will produce is a good deal. I'm just wierd like that. :rolleye2:

Snake breeding in general is a gamble. I guess these people aren't worried about such a BIG gamble. O_O

No, even those trace their ancestry back to the original imported stock as well....just in more than one line. ;)

Especially a BEL which still confuses the heck out of me when I've seen all that is listed that can supposedly produce it.
Breeding that to a normal could produce one of? how many different snakes for all we know.

Isn't that what most do when they import a new morph for $10K-$20K-$30K?
I don't think RDR or Bob knows what produced "X" morph when some guy pulls it out of a hole.

Totally different ... that BEL was produced by "something" in Africa ... we don't/won't know if it was lessers, mojaves, or something almost normal looking like Vin Russos lemons ... If I was shelling out 13K on a lucy I would be ticked if it didn't produce lessers .... that 13K could have been put towards a lesser project and I could have the real deal. ;)

My birthday's coming up in August. Buy me a piebald male. -Bats eyelashes.-

Re: ummm Blue eyes Lucy scam?
I know this may be crazy talk but everyone that buys a snake like that buys it w/ the intent to breed ?????
I know if I had money I would buy it for 13k just to have it in my collection w/ no intent of breeding. I would assume there are other folks out there who feel like I do and have the cash. Or am I waaayyy off base? If you are buying just to collect backround etc doesn't really matter.
I want a Pie and I will never breed it. I am just a collector of things :)
You should see my sports collection and card collection.

Re: ummm Blue eyes Lucy scam?
First off, collecting live animals is a bit off. Although I am sure that you in particular take wonderful care of them, and adore them like the rest of us do. Just pointing out that a lot of people buy something and discard just as easily when it is not longer the currant fad or style.
And if I had the $13K yeah I would buy it in a heartbeat. BEL that COULD produce lessers, mojaves, etc etc, or even a brand new morph? Yeah, well worth the money, but remember too that it will be a while before you could breed her, as I have been told that a lot of WC females refuse to breed for quite a while. Being so young, maybe this would not be true.
But my personal opinion that snatching up a new morph out of africa for $20K to gamble on its genetics is no different. He should state right out that they are WC.
Wish I had of had $13K.
And yeah, I could DEFINATELY see someone dropping $13K on a pure white Ball python for just a pet. It would be an awesome animal all on its own.
I have seen people spend more for a dog, and loads more for a gelded horse.

Re: ummm Blue eyes Lucy scam?
I would MOST DEFINATELY buy it for a pet ONLY... if I had the cash. For someone like me, if I just wanted one in my collection for its uniqueness from anything else I may possess, this would be the opportunity for me to have it at a lower cost.. b/c breeding is not something I want to do anyhow.

Yeah, but whatever it does produce ( and i guess the question is if it produces)is a het for that BEL.. that's still real. If it wasn't something the market already has, wouldn't be good for a breeder to have it first?
