:confuzd: Two idiots working in tandem, it looks like to me. If you let your dog off the leash and out of your immediate control, you are at least partly responsible for what happens to it. What if it had been hit by a car? Would he have sued the driver? I don't think so. On the other hand, whoever allowed a snake that big to be loose as well deserves the smack they got in court.

I feel bad about the dog , but hay they left him off the leash and I'd bet the burm was on the owner's property.

the car thing is exactlly what i said!!!!! Ofcourse i was met with your wrong blah blah!! Everyone has to be a know it all!

Yea if the python was loose then the owner should have warned people, and if the python was with the owner then I can not imagine that he would have allowed the dog to get that close! Who knows!

Sucks that this is one more story for the general public to use against rep keepers!! :(

They're freaking out over a snake attacking...er...ambushing a dog, I want to see everyone on here make a post every time they hear about a dog attacking a PERSON. Those attacks make the headlines, snake attacks make the "wierd news" at the end.

I think it's a load of crap!!!--most places I have been have leash laws!

But it is also legal for me to shoot any animal on my property that i feel threatens me or my pets. Mostly because of the dogs that run loose, plus I have been attacked twice in my life by "loose" dogs.

I'm cheering for the python, but I feel bad for the owner of the python and the bad rep it gives to pet snakes.

I agree with the others, whose property was the snake on?

I agree. The guy should have never let his dog off the leesh. However, you'd have to be irresponsible to let an 11-foot burmese python out. No matter what sort of animal you own, you need to be responsible. It's both of their faults. My snakes are no where near that size, and I always double check to make sure thier tanks are locked up.

The question is...would the owner of the dog that was killed sue the other owner if the animal that killed the dog was another dog off it's lease instead of a snake that was outside?

thats straight to the point. the dog, however, should have been on the leash. I'm on the side of the snake owner because I'm allergic to dogs... plus, those small breeds look like rats anyways. they're kinda asking for it. they never said if the snake was injure due to the beating from the dog owner.

They wont tell you if the snake is ok. 'Cause snakes are "evil" in other peoples eyes. But yes, the dog should never have been taken off a leesh.

Both parties are to blame equally. What if the guy had a pet hamster not a python and the dog ate him? Also if those people got extra money because they set a spot for him at dinner and had the dog at the wedding, that would be absurd.

For the person that asked, I believe the python was on the apartment grounds wich makes it private property!

Yea the whole ordeal stinks! Its a bunch of malarky the way they reported it just because like you all said it was a python and not another dog or something like that. I think to, that both parties were in the wrong! A burm or retic should not be out and about in an apartment complex without being supervised at all times. Also if the python was missing, lost, esacped whatever you want to call it then IMO he should have notified the residents! The dog sholdnt have been off the leash and since he was you kinda have to expect something bad to happen espically in a place that has cars going about constantly kids running around etc..

One more thing!!!! Corn should not be added to any type of dish, if its not on the cob or by itself then it shouldnt be!! lol

    Re: More bad press!!!!!
Actually unless the python was directly owned by the apartment building owner it's not on private property per se. It's on communal green area that a tenant cannot consider "his" therefore should not have allowed a snake of that size loose on (or any other pet unless specifically marked as a "dog run area" or that like). Besides which who in their right mind has an 11 foot snake outside. I wonder if it had gotten loose? I think both parties are responsible. The snake owner for being stupid enough to allow a snake of that size loose in an openly accessible area (whatever the excuse for it being outside like that) and the dog owners for not having the brains to keep their dog under leash control. The judgement is a bit ridiculous though if it was in any way based on the fact that the dog ate at their table and attended their wedding.

However you look at it, it leaves yet another bad impression about large snakes and those that own them. :(

I meant it is private property in the means that it is owned by the company that runs the apartment building thus making it private property. Whatever the apartment building wants to call a grassed area comunial etc that is there discresion.
COuldnt agree more with you on all the other stuff tho!!

    Have a good weekend! :)

Ok if the dog had ran onto the property and bite and killed the snake could the snake owner sue the dog owner??? Let me know how that would have worked out !?!

Sounds to me like the idiot hit his dog w/ the golf club when trying to kill the snake and instead killed his dog.

And excuse me but setting a place at the table for Thanksgiving and the ring bearer at there wedding, there whack jobs for sure. Snake should have eaten him :)
