I learned a lot yesterday....
But probably the most important (sorry kara :P ) was
Don't tell yourself that the goal of the trip is to not get pulled over, because you just might... (twice)
-
Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
Did you get out of it?
I never get out of it :(
-
Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
Whad'ya get tickted for??...speedin'?
-
Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
Did you take a trip to NERD?
-
Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
Well, the first time i got pulled over (like 15 minutes away from my house, and literally about 2 after quoting my agenda of NOT getting pulled over for the day) He gave me warning, b/c I didn't have one of those expiration stickers on my license plate....dumb. I also don't have a plate on the front of the car, which i guess is illegal. I can't put one on the front because of the body kit, so i don't know what im gona do bout that one.
The second time was on the way back in mass, like 2 miles away from the CT border for speeding. He wrote me a ticket, but for 5 miles less than what I was doing. I also learned that my exhaust is illegal in mass. nice.
If you might have not been able to tell, i have this terrible tendancy to get pulled over a lot. LOL, this is my second time that i've gotten pulled over 2ce in one day. And it's always when im visiting mass- what the hay man???
I get out of them a lot, with just a warning- it helps to turn on the dumb cuteness :wuv:
And yes Jball, I went to NERD. Completely worth the whole ticket shpiel...

Awesome!!
Was NERD incredible???
-
Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
I guess the exhaust was illegal b/c it was too large, not b/c it was too loud. *shrug* He didn't write up for it- he was really after me for the speeding.
NERD was totally, 200% incredible. I was waiting for Kara, and I was just mezmorized by the pet store downstairs! Crocs, reticulated pythons, chiclid tanks, turtles that i could pet, hanging iguanas.. and karas adorable kuckaburro (spelling plz??) She finally got him to talk... so cute.
Upstairs just took my breath away.. i couldn't talk except for the redundant "wow", "that's so cute", and "OMG". I was allowed to hold this amazing black-headed python, big guy (girl? i forget!) who was just beautiful.
but i gotta go to class.. im late!!

Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
~deeply envious sigh~ This makes me awfully excited for those "somedays" I keep collecting! LOL I'm very glad you got to make such an awesome trip!!!

Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
I remember those days.....my group of friends were all into modding cars and whatnot, amongst a lot of others in the area also....hang out in parking lots and stuff....get harassed by the police....for some time there was actually a special taskforce called the "lowrider patrol" whose sole purpose was to find and issue citations to illegally modified vehicles.....pretty lame! I kinda grew out of it, and now I drive my dad-mobile SUV!

Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
I used to have a car that was fast looking, fast sounding and not that fast. i got pulled over more than 15 times in 5 months.
I now own a 240sx with a skyline engine. It sounds almost stock until you hit wide open throttle, then it becomes a monster. Ive never ONCE gotten pulled over.

Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
My sister got 2 ticketsin one week. One for an illegal u-turn and the cop was going to let her off but she was being a smart a..... And then she got one for staying behind a MARKED cop when he was going 85 in a 65. Shes that dumb to think just because he's speeding she can..... NOT

My brother runs a 240 too with an s13 sr20det.....its actually much quieter than his stock motor was...something about those nissan turbos i guess.

Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
Ok, I will bite. What kind of car do you have, body kit, non-stock muffler, etc?
I think that might be part of your problem heheh.... Also, drill two holes in the body kit, pop on a plate, easy enough. Luckily you can hold off on that until you get a warning, and then you have to do it :( or something.
Another option is gluing a super strong magnet to your plate, and then putting a magnet on the inside, might need a few of those, and real bar magnets, not those fakey ones :(

Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
Okay people, you're missing the important part of this thread -- hearing about Kara and NERD's snakes! Where are the pictures?! =D

Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
For the lisence plate issue you should be able to just lay in on the dash of the car in the front window...I know that's totally legal here in MN. I have a ton of buddies here with custom body kits on their cars, so that's what they resort to.
BTW I'm with Cass, no pictures? Pictures please!
-
Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
Aww, Im sorry guys- i didn't take any pictures! I didn't know if I was allowed to bring a camera and take pictures of their animals :sigh2: I was thinking about it, but then i figured I would just go back again in a few months when I forget what something looks like lol.
There was a really adorable pied there named sharpie- lol he has little black smudges/spots that looked like he got attacked with a sharpie. SOOO cute! We watched kara fight off her mad cobra, make her kookaburra sing, and wipe out 2 rodents with style.
Tons of retics, monitors, some hots, iguanas, crocs, turtles, fish (seahorses!!)....
It was totally worth the trip/cost, and I would recommend you all to get your Arses down there to check it out!
Snakey- its a 2002 silver nissan sentra spec-v. it's alright, nice mods... but ide rather have my datsun 280z with a 350 swap :D

LOL...yes, here's Sharpie...she is such a doll!

And for future reference, yes, photos are allowed. :) Now this gives you an excuse to come visit again!
By the way, it was a real pleasure to share these critters with someone who could appreciate the beauty of each & every one. :D

Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
Sharpie is too cool! :sweeet:

Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
That's a tempting road trip! I've done MN to the FL Keys straight through, so that would be nothing. :) I'd have to bring along a mop with me though.
I'm sure I'll want to head up that way even more after I get my copy of The Complete Ball Python (which I ordered yesterday) and oogle at all of the pretty photographs I've heard so much about. ;)
Sharpie is quite a looker!

Re: I learned a lot yesterday....
My trip to NERD was breathtaking. Well it was kind off a half trip. After looking at all the animals downstairs, and buying some supplies. I go to leave the whole time I just figuered they just kept all those awesome snakes away and no one could see. Then I see the sign "Come take our tour". Well my dad was already out the door. And I took him 45mins out of his way, to see the only thing he dislikes most, reptiles. Well I left saying DAMN. The cuckoobarra was awesome. And they had some huge sulcatas. Really cool stuff. I missed the tour Grrrr. :( EDIT: is KLG Kevin from NERD? Does KLG work at NERD?
