shirley!!!
so my husband and i were in petsmart last night getting kritter keepers for the crested baby boom and we passed by the small mammal display. one of the hamsters came running to the front of her cage and litterally danced on one foot trying to climb the glass like she was saying "pick me! pick me!" talk about the cutest thing i've ever seen. of course the husband was like, no, we have to stick to the budget, we already have too many critters, etc, etc.
well, when we get home and he says, "we could name her shirley." whaaaaat? well needless to say i put it out of my mind because we are trying to stick to a budget just paid rent and whatnot. so as i was washing one of the new kritter keepers i discover that one of them was broken. blast!
well this morning my husband snuck the broken kritter keeper out on his way to work and at lunch went to petsmart and exchanged it for shirley! so not like him, but even he couldn't resist that cute little face. :P
okay, okay, i'll stop talking now and show you what you really came here to see. :D

Re: shirley!!!
OHmygosh! The forum has been awash in TOO CUTE lately! We're all gonna need to make extra trips to the dentist!
That's such a cool story! Maybe I'll try and figure a way to sneak that story into my crestie schemes. VERY VERY sweet hamster!

Re: shirley!!!
aaagh! i have to go to the dentist tomorrow morning! i hate the dentist!
i guess it serves me right though seeing as how i've been the source of at least a little of the cuteness.... :P

Re: shirley!!!
I'm not a real hamster person but thats a really cute hamster!

Re: shirley!!!
I also usually think hamsters are nasty little things.. but Shirley is just ADORABLE! Perfect name too!

Re: shirley!!!
generally speaking i'm not crazy about hamsters either, but i had one years ago that was the sweetest little thing that ever walked the face of the earth and i really didn't think i'd ever get another hamster after her. it took a while, but i'd say i've found a pretty darn good follow-up! :)

Re: shirley!!!
How could you resist, what a cutie! Hamsters can be real nippy lil boogerheads but I had one a few years back too that was Miss Personality plus. Loved sweet tea so much I eventually got her a little cup all for herself (hamster drool in my tea cup was just not going over well LOL).

Wow, she really is cute! That first picture is priceless

Re: shirley!!!
She's a cutie!! I have a white dwarf hamster,Nibbles. Be careful with the female hamsters, though....they can get moody real quick and won't think twice about nippin' ya!...which is why I like the males better.....

Re: shirley!!!
I know what you mean about hard to follow up hamsters. Although our newest doesn't hold a candle to the last one, but the kids adore her. Congrats on the new addition. She's adorable!! :aww:  And bigger congrats on the softy husband.

Re: shirley!!!
luckily i don't think i have to worry too much about nippiness with shirley--that's one thing i won't tolerate in a rodent unless it is a momma protecting her babies!
she really is just too darn cute though. my husband had her out last night and she was all over the place being ridiculously adorable. :aww: he does get a soft heart from time to time! :P

Re: shirley!!!
Well then him that he has to go out and get Shirley one of those too die for hamster ball cars so she can whizz happily around the house (and I want pics!) LOL
-
Re: shirley!!!
ha! he did say last night that we needed to get her one of those rodent balls! :D
-
Re: shirley!!!
Those balls crack me up...are hamsters poop and pee machines like mice or do they have more control? I'd hate to have a rodent ball that basically acted like a moving pee and poo sprinkler...

Re: shirley!!!
ha, well my previous hamster would sometimes poop in her ball if i left her in there for longer than usual but she would then run right up to me and stop and sit like--hey! there's poop in here! get me out!
