Wow...you need to crop or resize that last picture.

I don't know one Uro from another, but I CAN tell you this: He's a cute little booger!!

Looks like a red niger uro to me! Very nice! Do be sure to get a fecal done, most uros in the pet trade, unless purchased from one of the few breeders, are imports.

I think I'm going to name it Panjabi, but it's killing me not knowing what kind of species it is.

Well, Jeanne offered what appears to be a very educated suggestion. A quick google of "red niger" brought up some pics that look exactly like your little guy, so I'd say Jeanne is right on the money with that one.

You right it looks like it is a Red Niger, thanks Jeanne. He's a cool little guy and is my first Uro. Now if he is a red niger is that the same as the uromastyx they call north african uros?

No it is not the same. Commonly reds and yellow are also known as Saharan Uromastyx.

Forgot to ad, the red and yellow (saharan) is known as Saharan Uromastyx (U. geryi ), it is a different species that the North African Uro. N. African Uros are Uromastyx acanthinurus.

I see. Where can I find more information on this specific species of Uro? Also, I can't seem to find a caresheet specifically for red nigers...

I'd like to know if it would be agood guess that my Uro is female? as I read that males are typically more dramatic in coloration or brighter.

    Thanks

I reccommend you check out this site:

    http://www.deerfernfarms.com/Uromastyx_Saharan.htm

Deer Fern Farms has some of the best info around on many types of uros.

When they are that tiny, there is no accurite way of telling what sex it is. You are going to have to wait till it is much older. Coloring is not a good indicator of sex, as they mature, thier colors change dramatically.
