    Retics Love Goats!
Our friend had a goat with congenital hip deformities, so it was slaughtered and given to us. It weighed around 15-20 pounds. This is our 2nd biggest Retic. She is over 16 feet.

My wife took this with a crappy little point and shoot, but it shows the lump the next day.

I'm ok with it as long as the goat was humanely killed.

This just in, the people who are really upset are the guys who run the street meat carts in NYC. They could have made a crapload (and I mean crapload - like 15 mins later) of goat curry out of that bad boy.

Thanks guys. I only feed still born goats and goats that are 'Failing to Thrive'. The rest of the time they eat rabbits. She could eat a meal like that every 10-14 days. And of course, they are all humanly killed. I have great respect for the role feeder animals play in our hobby. I don't take it lightly.

You are what you eat. Sticking it to the feeders is the same as sticking to our pets.

I think he's just saying that if we abuse/neglect our feeders, then we're giving our pets sub-standard food...in essence, passing the neglect on to our snakes.

I'd be interested to hear how someone might think I'm doing that. Goats are an excellent food source, and this animal was neither in poor health (aside from the hip) or treated inhumanely.

Failing to thrive can mean many things. A baby human can be in perfect physical health and 'Fail To Thrive'.

Oohhh, I don't think he was accusing you of doing that! I think he was agreeing with you that we should always respect our feeders. Obviously, if I'm wrong, I hope Brad will speak up for himself, but I don't think I am. So far as I can tell, no one here has a problem with your methods of feeding giant snakes. It's obvious from their glowing health and beauty that you're doing something right!!

That's cool, I didn't mean to sound so defensive. As you can imagine, I've gotten a lot of grief for feeding hoofstock. But like I said, I treat all animals with respect, and besides they mostly eat Rabbits. Thanks for clarifying.

I read it as a generalisation that u feed good food your animals thrive u feed cr*p then they dont. We can see u do bud and your animals show that!!!

Definitely no problem, Adam. I can imagine the kind of prejudice you get. It would get pretty easy to expect to see it everywhere you look. It's great, though, that we can smooth things like that over before they turn into heated arguments. :D

That is awesome. Does she have a similar strike response to the goat? Did she strike it or just eat it? Will she just eat like anything warm and meaty? That is really cool

    Re: Retics Love Goats!
She goes through phases, but she is usually a pretty aggresive eater regardless of prey.

She is a Het for Albino and she is the mother of the young Albinos I've posted. She's also 1/2 Sulawesi, which accounts for her pattern.

What a magnificent display of power. I can definitely respect the raw power of that beautiful snake and the role that that goat played.
