Need help: Putting together a snake quiz =)
    Hey guys,

I'm putting together a little snake quiz for my boss at work. During the weekly manager meetings, they do trivia questions and I volunteered to put together a snake quiz.

I have several questions put together, but I need a more. The one I'd really like to put in there is "What percentage of all snake varieties are venomous?" but google is failing me - anyone know?

Any other suggestions are welcome! Here are the questions I have so far:

    1. The Latin taxonomy for Python regius, also known as ball pythons, acknowledges lore about this snake and what famous historical figure?

    2. Between pythons and boa constrictors, which type give live birth?

    3. All snakes stop growing by the age of:
    A. 3 years.
    B. 5 years.
    C. 10 years.
    D. Never.

    4. Which snake is native to Southern California?
(pic of King Cobra) (pic of Rosy Boa) (pic of eastern diamondback)

    5. Which country in the world has the most known varieties of snakes?
    A. South Africa
    B. Brazil
    C. Australia
    D. United States

How many people worldwide die of snake bites every year?
125,000 - more than all other animal related deaths combined.

Hmm... okay, maybe you shouldn't put that one in there. :) If you do, you can include this one:

How many people die every year from Ball Pythons?
    Nearly one.

Every non snake enthusiasts seems to enjoy talking about or hearing about the biggest snake ever. Maybe by species or vague records?

    african rock python
    green anaconda
    reticulated python

Deadliest snake is always a crowd pleaser. Maybe something about land vs sea snakes??

This question has more than one answer. If I remember correctly (and I may have gotten this mixed up) colubrids have one functional lung, and one vestigal. Boids have two lungs. I am unsure about venomous snakes.

    Another I'd ask:

true/false all snakes have teeth (many people think snakes do not! though the egg eating snake does not have true teeth.. so this is a tricky one too. lol)

    1 - means 'royal python'

2 - boas give live birth, except for a certain species of sand boa.. and all pythons lay eggs.

3- depends on species really, but most slow their growth rate after 3 years.

    4- rosy boa

    5- this one I don't know.

Well that's a good guess because it's a lot more land area than the other options (except for the US.). I know a lot of morelia pythons live there, as well as venomous snakes (including the most venomous, the taipan.)

BZZT! Answer to question 1 is Queen Cleopatra, who legend has it used to "wear" trained ball pythons wrapped around her wrists as decoration. Queen = royalty = royal python

I'll have to post the rest of the questions I came up with...will do on Monday as they are at the office. =)
