I hate to call any snake "bombproof" but so far these really take the cake. I have yet to hatch a particularly uppity stimsoni...even the occasional peckerheads have tamed down for me exceptionally well.

The male pictured has been part of educational programs/displays for me for the better part of 6 years...he is just a gem, both in looks & personality.

I've been through a lot of "downsizing" and "reprioritizing" in terms of my personal collection over the past decade, and all I can say is that these guys will *always* be a part of it. They make the cut every single time.

Wonderful animals, Kara. It's always a treat to see them.

Don't you have some papuan pythons? If so, I'd really enjoy seeing a pic or two sometime. Very interesting snakes.

    Hey April!!! :)

First off, thanks for the kind words. :D From a girl who's as herp-diversified as you, that means a lot. :D

We do have a nice little group of Papuans, all of which are on breeding loan with a good friend of mine. We made the decision last year to send them out ot someone who could really take time & focus on them, since we had our hands full over here with moving & book writing (among other things).

In the mean time, you can see some pics on our Papuan page.

    ;)

Hmmm...I should take pics of the same 2 snakes when they're laying straight instead of coiled (and also not full of food)...you'd be surprised at how well-proportioned they actually are. Bloods & short-tails are indeed heavy-bodied animals, but most of mine typically run on the slim side compared to what you normally see in blood collections. ;)
