In grave need of levity I fire off another off-off-topic thread:

What is your favorite restaurant and dish served there?

Despite my sushi fetish I still think the best (I can remember) is

    Mama Kwan's Pad Thai

    :tongue2:

Well.. I am a sushi fanatic too. I love unagi donburi and a bunch of sushi (salmon is my favorite but I like sea urchin and squid a lot too) the best Japanese restaurant around here that I know of is called Hayashi.

I may be a little biased after spending two years in Thailand, but I LOVE Thai food!! :sweeet: If I had to narrow it down to one dish at one location (in the states that is) it would have to be the nam tog moo (direct translation - waterfall pig) at a place called the Thai Ruby. I also love most thai curry, massaman being my fav. Hmmm, I just got really hungry.....

Yomo Oko ( or somethin like that) it's a sushi bar that is AMAZING. I adore the whitefish tempora (even though that's not technically sushi), and they make a couple other rolls that are amazing (spicy tuna! mmm)

Yeah, it's def. one of those places you go b/c it's your birthday or something. Where the heck is the dollar menu in places like that :fishslap:

It really depends on where you go. There was a place in Illinois I hated! Not only were thier gyros too salty, but they used some type of salad dressing for the sauce rather than real cucumber sauce.

The place here in town is superb. I was aweful skeptical at first, but after finding out the place has been owned by the same greek family who opened it around 1946 or so and actually eating there alot, it has become my one favorite place in town to roam off to for a good authentic greek meal and time away from the kids with my hubby. Never salty and they always have cucumber sauce!!!!!!

I love Korean food, especially "Yuk Gae Jang" (Spicy Hot Beef, Veg. & Noodle Soup) and all the "Kimchi" you can put in front of me. I dont think there is a Korean dish that I dont like. Now if I only didnt have to travel 3 hours just to get to a Korean Restaraunt.

I must be in the minority. I call sushi .. bait. ;) :giggle:

The Creperie (sp??) had the most awesome ham and cheese crepes with maple syrup baked into the crepe. Finished with belgian waffles with strawberries inside. YUMMY!! I want to go back to Montreal just to eat there again.

    Re: Favorite restaurant / dish
Hmmm okay I'm in the wierd minority here but as much as I love restaurants and wish we could get out for dinner more often lately, I think I love it more when I can either replicate the dish at home or tweak it a bit to our personal tastes. I'm a total Food Channel fanatic. Really sad when I sit in a restaurant thinking..."hmmm well this is nice but I could make this at home for a tenth of the price and hmmm I would have used this or that ingredient and a bit more pepper and dang but these portions are ridiculous and why is that waiter taking so long with it...." LOL

I must have way too much scots blood in me but I hate paying a lot for a little bit of nuthin!

Probably my favorite dishes all involve cream, cheese of some sort, pasta.....all stuff I know is not good for the waistline. Oh and don't even start on desserts...that's a sad failing of mine that I'd rather skimp on the main course so I can have some chocolate, nut filled, caramell, whipped cream thing that will have me hating myself for a week to come! LOL

I'm a HUGE sushi fan. Eel's my favorite, so when we get to go to Sumo San's in Downtown Richmond, we end up spending at least $50. O_O

Hey Vaughn...we need to go have sushi one night. ^_^

Oh. And Osaka's is pretty good and Kabuto's is alright. I LOVE the soup that they make. It's just...relaxing. O_o
