I just got a little head start!
Just wanted to share with everyone that I just closed a deal for 5 adult females that will be in my hot little hands in a couple of weeks...
As I was talking it over with a friend earlier.. my odds of a clutch this year just went from about 10-20% to hoping that I'll have 3 clutches of pastels, and maybe a het albino and het axanthic clutch..... PLUS the 10-20% possible chance that I might have a couple of 05 girls ready this year...
Now... if Jeff @ Boaphile would just hurry up and finish my rack order... :)
The herp room is going to be FULL of racks... I'm getting 9 new racks from Boaphile, 3 Ballroom's... 3 6-Shelf Sideways.. and 3 10 shoebox's... The 5 new girls will go into a six shelf sideways in 32 qt tubs until they pass quarantine, and then into the ballrooms they will go to await their boyfriends for this season.
I'm not sure what's more painful... waiting for the new racks to arrive... (fellow Boaphile owners) or waiting for the snakes.. :)
Just pretty excited, can't sleep. :) Thought I'd share.
Re: I just got a little head start!
Nice! What size girls!? How did you find someone willing to part with them??!?! :)
Of size, ready to breed females are $$ in the bank :) so to speak
Re: I just got a little head start!
1124, 1241, 1259, 1475, 2227 :) I guess I just got lucky. :) They're all tick/mite free and they are all actively feeding. I figure even if I strike out on two or three of 'em... the others should still be okay and ready to go this year.. and if they don't... then I'll have 'em for next year. Now... what to do with the big girl this year... :) Do I save her for a lesser for next season for more eggies, or do I use her this year AND next year.. :)

Depends on what males you have, and what males are ready now :). At 2227 I wouldnt waste her for this year, but what do I know :)

As soon as I receive the new rack order. I placed it on the 5th of this month... so hopefully within the next couple of weeks...
Re: I just got a little head start!
Nice job Ken!! I can never seem to have luck like that but I'm glad you seem to! And I agree with Vaughn, if you're really thinking about a lesser I'd hold her over 'til next year and have a better chance at more eggs... Then she'd REALLY be $$ in the bank! ;)
Re: I just got a little head start!
If ya don't mind my askin', how much was this lovely group of girls???
Re: I just got a little head start!
I have a pet shop near me that specializes in breeding ball pythons. they have pastels and spiders currently for sale. And i saw that they had adult male balls for $150 and adult female balls for $250. is that price reasonable? i am thinking about buying a pair.

That price is VERY reasonable.... if it's a larger female.. The male price you stated is really not that reasonable. You can get a male for 50-100 pretty much anywhere.
