    My new snake
Well, the grand total of snakes (not counting the foster snake or my mom's) is 25!

This little girl just caught my eye at the reptile swap today. She's incredibly docile and very lovely. These snakes color up with age, so she is relatively dull right now, but she was much brighter yellow than the other two JCPs that were there, and she has the crisp pattern that I like. I got her for a good price I think.. $116, everything I had! The guy said she's about to shed.. if so she must be in the last stages before shedding.. I hope she does, she'll be so pretty!

So.. this is her, baby female morelia spilota cheynei - Jungle carpet python. ..and the pics don't do her great justice.

JCPs are a good choice also. They tame down well and are pretty cool. I know someone whose JCP spends all day on top of the curtain rod hanging out.

Like you I want one of everything! Obviously BPs are my passion and I need to focus but I would love a JCP, Dumerils and Blood. Especially a Blood for their pure hugeness!

I love her little face, it's so cute.

Yeah I love having a diversified collection, but I'd like to have more surinam BCC and blood pythons, as these are my absolute favorites.

I'm gonna run out of room at some point.. hehe more motivation to save up for my own place!

Ive almost run out of room now! I knew I should have made the spare room the snake room but it has a window and then ill have temp issues again. An interior room has worked out great.

I've got two windows in here, but I've covered one with a blanket so the sunshine doesn't go in the cages and heat them up too much.

I'm getting three more boaphile 421Ds.. I love stacking cages. Instantly more room!

Yeah.. so easy to buy more snakes. lol I'm going to save up a good chunk of change for the NARBC show in October. Can't wait!!

Since the bloods are graduating to boaphile cages, that leaves empty slots in my 3' racks. The burm has moved out already, and I had an empty slot as it was, so that means I'll have 4 3' slots open.. plus I have two sweater box slots open.. and some space in the hatchling rack, but I'm hoping for baby kingsnakes so we'll see about that.

That is one beautiful carpet! I saw one at Lee Watson's a few months ago, but I was only there for feeder mice and was too short of cash:(

    JCP generalization
    Shelby,

I know there's no hard and fast rule to the following question but I have to ask:

    Are JCP's mean?

Every time I see one I think "wow, great snake, cool colors" and somewhere in my mind the words "Face eating demon spawn killer beast" come flying forward.

I'm sure it comes from the *first* day I looked at snakes seriously I watched a juvi strike at everything that moved. After a year of BP ownership I'm now equating that with "hey, maybe it'll be a good eater".

Plus.. I already have my Hogg Island (and a Hognose, no relation :) )

    Re: JCP generalization
Well, mine is an angel, but a portion of young JCP are very defensive (what you could call 'mean') this is true of most boid species. As they grow older and if they are handled gently and consistently most will become quite docile.

i've always heard carpets loathe the switch from mice to rats, but mine take down the rat pups like they're goin' out of style!

    Re: JCP generalization
Yeah I was worried she wouldn't want the rat too.. but she grabbed it so fast I barely had my hand out of harm's way!
