    Quality of herp forums
So..I often check out other forums to see what's going on and what people are posting about. Lets just say that bp.net blows them all away. One in particular, while providing a valuable service is a haven for scammers, immature children and lunatics. Unfortunately it has gone downhill quickly through the banning of quality contributors because they wouldn't follow the ridiculous rules that the members must follow but the mods (and owner) can freely break at will.

Its nice to have a community like this that is all about helping others, promoting a real herping community and treating people with respect. Thanks to the owners and mods here for making this forum what it is, the best out there.

I'm with you there!! Although I've browsed many-a-forum in the past few years, This is the only forum I've ever really posted on more than a couple times. It just has a good all-around feel. :D

Well I'm very biased but I agree, this is the best place around. I always feel sad when a new person joins and in their first post they ask to not be slammed or flamed for not doing everything perfectly. How awful that people get treated like that elsewhere on the internet. Sure sometimes we get tough on folks here if they have all the information and still won't be give their creatures good care but thankfully that's fairly rare.

I'm proud to be part of a forum that is so family friendly. I know my kids can come here and I love that Lars and his mother are both members....how cool is that! We do have a fair few rules around here but in the end, the result shows....a good forum that encourages respect for it's members, respect for the herps, lots of knowledge, friendship and hopefully a good bit of fun.

No matter what Admin and Mods do though folks, it's all about the members. On a daily basis you make or break this forum and it's heartwarming to see how good you've made it!

A big :grouphug: for all our :community

HEAR HEAR!!!!!!! And U don't mind the guests!! I was a guest once or twice before deciding to join.

I have < scratch that---HAD > been a member on a non-herp forum, and because I didn't jump thru the hoops, and then voiced displeasure to the admin, I've been called a lurker and other not-nice names. Sorry, but I had enough of the p***y, snooty, drown-in-a-rainstorm cliques in high school, thank you very much!!! :irkd: and just because I don't log on once every 30 days, doesn't mean I'm a lurker and malcontent (like I was accused). May those 30 "wonderful" ppl get fleas in their armpits :giggle:

More power to 'em....I'd just as soon stay where I'm made to feel welcome and can have fun learning new skills and ideas for better snake care!!!!!! And get to know such GREAT ppls!

I've really enjoyed the chance to read and "get to know" all you guys! And it's ALWAYS entertaining (to say the least! ;) ) hee hee hee hee

Wow, they attached a negative connotation to lurkers? Nothing's wrong with all you lurkers out there! They just sit silently in the background and gain knowledge on how to better care for their snake/future snake. (or whatever the topic of the forum happens to be) Nothing wrong with lurking! [BUT CLICK ON THE ADS OR ELSE!!!] (just kidding - have to say that else SOMEBODY will not see the sarcasm and get all bent out of shape about it)

This seems to be a pretty good forum in general, other than that one time the admin flamed me for not doing a search on a topic that hadn't been discussed for over a year.

Yeah, that was the NICEST part of the return email I got. Seems since they couldn't control or prevent lurkers and other "nasties" (I won't repeat what else she said) that was one reason why they moved. If that's how they want to run their little club, then I don't sweat having been :banned1: for voicing my opinion. Last I knew, this was a free country and my opinion is as important as anyone else's.

(I never could stand to be a boot-licker just to satisfy some group. :sigh2: Maybe that's why I do a good job here at work? :lmao: )

Hmmm funny but I see the guests (I hate that word lurkers) as more of a challenge, not a bad thing. Like..."hmmm why aren't they comfie enough to join or participate, what do I need to do so they feel this is a good place to be and sign up or post more". I'm so talkative and open I guess I forget some folks just prefer to be more in the background LOL.

Here here! We're just the janitors around here, and you guys hardly ever give us anything to clean up...so we're quite a happy crew most of the time! :D

Seriously...I lurk at other forums from time to time, but never feel compelled to join in because nothing feels as comfortable and homey as BP.net!

This is by FAR, the BEST ball python forum, IMHO. People are wonderful, good advice is given, and there's a nice group of like minded people who are just getting into this hobby and venturing into breeding that we can network with when we start producing our first babies.

And established breeders to help guide us with our endless questions!

Just to let everyone know, I scoped this site out forever before joining. Even though Lars talked about it so much. I have been on forum sites before that give more opinion than help. I LOVE THIS GROUP !! GREAT ADVICE!!:colbert2: Will be looking here for all my herp needs.

Where else can you go that has 1.good breeders with great available animals 2.knowledgeable staff. 3. funny, helpful, unjudgemental, and respectable members....nowhere but here at B-P.Net!!! I have been on "other" forums, and I swear it's like being in high school or on a soap opera!!!!! Judgemental, critical, arrogant, disrespectful, immature, and mindless at best is what I have seen elsewhere, as well as plenty of bad advice and misinformation from people passing themselves off as "experts". The others just don't even compare to this one!!! I never would have contemplated it before, but I even made a friend on this forum....we met at a reptile show and plan on having a meeting of the "families" this summer. It's just the greatest I love all you guys..:grouphug: ...I feel like I'm part of a family...that speaks parseltongue...P.S....whenever I work my 12hour shift weekends, I suffer from BP-Net withdrawal!!!!
