    I got my RTB!!!
I got the female RTB today. I haven't probed her yet to be sure but I got her. The guy fed her right before he picked her up and brought her to me. She looks to be about 5' long. He said she was ok before he fed her and afterwards she took a shot at him. You guys know me, and how I love a challenge. She looks to be in good health. I got her for $40. I should be getting the one from Clay in a week or so it is starting to warm up here. I am glad he is already paid for.

I would also like some opinions on another pet. The Minot Zoo wants me to take on thier 4' male Iguana. The guy told me he might need a little work. Which means he is probably mean. I will have pictures up of the RTB tonight or tomorrow for you all.

Mom is so jealous of me right now. I think I have more pets that she does not counting fish.

Mom I double checked her saddles she is a BCI. Which means she wont get as big as the BCC. I'll be on the look out for a baby BCC for you. She has the rounded saddles. I think I got that all right.

Well....saddles alone aren't an absolute indicator of BCI or BCC. BCI can have widow's peaks...and BCC can have the concave saddles. It most likely IS a BCI, I'm just saying you shouldn't let saddle pattern by your only guide. :)

    To elaborate on this topic that Judy brought up;

I think you all may want to read this... go to this site: http://crinaustin.home.att.net/

Once there, go to DOWNLOADS by clicking on the link inside the yellow box at the left.

Download either the PDF or WORD document under the section titled "BOA CONSTRICTOR DOCUMENT".

*This document may answer alot of questions regarding being able to tell the difference between some of the many kinds of boas out there.

Also, if you do not have a program to view either document, scroll farther down the page to the box with the title "DOCUMENT VIEWERS". There you will find what you may need to open whichever Boa Constrictor Document you decided on downloading.

Hope this helps... warning, its got lots and lots of info, this may be worth printing out for those of you who keep stuff like this to refer to at a later date. There may come a time that you may not find it online anymore, so take advantage of this info while you can.

This pic is to show her size. This cage is 2' deep. She has about 6" of her neck and head hidden. I am guestimating her at 5' give or take a few inches.

She tried to get out while I was putting the water bowl in and taking the pics. She tried to squeeze between the other cages and I can't believe the strength I had to use to get her back. She ain't no BP that's for sure.

Her name is Delilah. The one I am getting from Clay will be Samson. The wife picked those names. Enjoy the pics.

    BCI for sure.. lovely boa!

And you really want a 4' nasty (probably won't get any nicer) iguana? If you take it.. make REAL sure you know what you're getting into.

I know about the Iggy. I double checked it is 2.5'. I am thinking of taking him until August then giving him to my mom. She really likes Iggys and knows how to care for them. You want him mom? I can care for him for a few months.

She's a sweetie Lars. You guys are going to love having a BCI around the house though you've just seen a small hint of the strength of these snakes. They may not be a burm or a retic, but they are nothing to sneeze at size wise or not be respectful of.

I just tossed my shirt in the cage to get her used to my scent. She didn't strike at me. I really wanted her to learn more about some of the slightly larger snakes.

I can't take an iggy if I'm getting another snake. Snakes and uromastyx are fine with Kelly, but she has a definite problem with iggys. Can't understand a problem wth iggys????:(

    Re: I got my RTB!!!
We had our second handling session today. The first time I took her out was to work on her cage a week ago. My son despite several warnings snuck up on her, got in her face and made noises at her. He was tagged right around his eye. He didn't cry or scream, and he knew why it happened. He did manage to spook her good. She constricted my arm for about 45 minutes. My arm was purple the whole time. Today while I was cleaning cages I took her out and handled her for about 3 minutes. Everyone in the house scrambled for some reason. I don't know why. I have no idea what kind of environment she came from so I am taking it slow with her. I put a shirt in the cage the day i got her. As soon as I put her in the cage today after handling and cleaning she went right for my shirt and started nuzzling in it. She is definately a force to be reckoned with and respected. She will get her first meal tomorrow then left be for a few days. I am going to feed her live since that is what she is used too. I am going to have to start special ordering everything. The pet shops are having a hard time keep up with my demand.

I sent Clay an e-mail last week and hope to get her boyfriend sometime this week.

We had a 15 minute handling session with her today. Everything went well. I act calm and slow around her, she does the same around me. Everyone in the house still scatters when i reach for her but she is well behaved. We also took a few pics while I had her out. She is in a shed, but she is so light and beautiful. You wouldn't believe it. Shannon is even starting to take to her a little.
