    Cute! :wuv:

Can you please resize those pics? They're WAY too big. If not, I'll edit them into links that folks can click to view.

very nice! (but PLEASE resize your pics--they're huge!)

it is totally understandable that he is shy right now. he will need several days to settle in before you can expect to start handling him and whatnot. shipping is stressful and he just needs some time to chill and get used to his new surroundings. :)

strange in some other forums it resized them unless you click on them, how do i fix that? i'm doing the image tag from photoshop, how do i fix it so they're relatively small, like a thumbnail, they only give me the 3 options url, tag, and image :(

well i recessed little 2oz dixie condiment cups since i have them by the ton, one for his water, and one for clarks, and i used an ashtray (since we have no smoking now) to put mealies in, although i may end up putting the baby food in this and worms in another little dish but heres the updated photo's of how i have the bottom set up

I would avoid mealworms for cresteds. If you want a good worm for them, feed them some phoenix worms. Which are about the same value as crickets, but have a lot more calcium.

he may not come down or eat for the first few days. he's pretty stressed right now from shipping and a change in environment and needs to have some time to settle in to his new surroundings. there is nothing to worry about at all if you don't see him eating at first, just give him some space and let him get comfortable.

as greenmonkey pointed out, mealworms really aren't a good choice for cresteds. you can also try roaches, crickets, phoenix worms, etc. but mealworms aren't easily digested by cresteds and therefore are of little nutritional value.

what kind of calcium syrup are you going to give him? if you feed t-rex crested gecko diet and/or insects dusted with herptivite and calcium you shouldn't need to supplement with anything else and doing so actually risks poisoning your gecko with too much calcium.

The best thing is to put the CGD in, turn out the lights and just leave him alone. I've only had a couple geckos eat right away after shipping, so he'll be fine for now. Who reccomended the calcium syrup, I've never heard of anybody using that for cresteds. Unless its the stuff a vet might give a female who suddenly calcium crashes. I sometimes throw a little powdered calcium in the CGD just to make sure they get enough.

i don't feed newly arrived geckos at all for the first 2-4 days after they arrive. i just make sure that they get plenty of fresh water via misting and/or a shallow dish in case they are slightly dehydrated from shipping. stick with the cgd and lightly dusting insects you shouldn't need the extra calcium at all.

For my little guys I use the tops of prescription pill bottles. Fill the inner part and you can tell pretty easy if they've been eating. I dont like to use larger cups or dishes until Im positive they're eating well.
