    NARBC October 7 & 8, 2006
Just wondering who all is planning to attend this year. Mike and I are hoping to go as once we move to Toledo we are only a few hours away. We've never been to a major reptile show so we are planning a whole weekend away sans kids to enjoy the experience and the City of Chicago.

    http://www.narbc.com/htm_chi/index_chi.htm

If I can remember to get it done, I'm going to order two BPNet t-shirts so we can show off the forum as well as be easily identifiable to other forum members attending.

Don't worry, I'll be there again. We've got to plan a bp.net dinner or something!

Oh great to hear Adam! Mike and I will have to buy you a beer (or three or four)! It'll be great to finally get to meet some of our BPNet buddies. I assume the preferred roosting spot is to grab a room at the convention center where the show is being held (Holiday Inn I think it is).

I believe you are right about the Holiday Inn. I've been thinking ahead trying to make a weekend of it...I'm definitely pumped about the show, but I'd also love to see the Shedd Aquarium. Oh, and right now they have a huge Komodo exhibit setup which would be sweet to see. http://www.sheddaquarium.org/specialexhibits.html

Hopefully I can make the trip workout with my schedule!

We've been thinking about making a full weekend of it too as we'd also like to see a bit of the city plus that Aquarium. I believe the show isn't open like Saturday morning and then it closes about suppertime both Saturday and Sunday so should leave a bit of time for other things. I need time to experience my very first authentic Chicago deep dish pizza LOL.

I'm actually planning on going to the Shedd for my birthday (June 8) I wonder if the lizards will still be there.

I know they usually have a big green anaconda there too.

You are probably right about the hours. You haven't had a real deep dish pizza? OMG!!!! How have you made it? I will HAVE to fix that!! I think either some Lou Malnati's or some Gino's East will do the trick, oh this will be fun!!! A real pizza virgin!!!!!!!

From what I've been told if you phone the Tinley Park Holiday Inn and Convention Center and mention you are coming for the "Reptile Conference" you will receive a special rate of $99.00 a night (I assume this would be for a basic one double bed room). I haven't confirmed this yet but will do so in the next week or so.

Also, if you know for a fact that you're going & haven't already booked your rooms @ the Holiday Inn, DO IT NOW!!! It fills up fast, and I hear that drunken taxi rides to other hotels at 3 AM aren't that fun. ;)

My advice is, get your room NOW for this event. The side of town the show is on, is less desirable at night especially. IMO, after living all over the Chicago area, that is one area, I dont want to be traveling late at night in. I would rather have everything I need/want in one place after dark rolls in.

Yeah, it is not exactly the most posh side of Chicago. It gets a bit rough around there at night.

I'll probably just come one day (hey that $99 for the hotel can buy a snake or two!) so we have to plan what we bp.netters are going to do, and when!

I can't speak for Kara, but she was there last year. I got to see some of her LOVELY blood/short tail pythons. :)

I have just called. You need to call the hotel directly (not the holiday inn reservations line) and you need to talk to the reservations manager directly for the special rate. She's there every weekday from 9 to 5.
