Every Nights an adventure...
I have realized that living in a room with two rats:mouse2: , 3 iguanas, 1 ball python, 1 parakeet, 1 lovebird and two anoles is an adventure all in itself. I often lay down to go to sleep and wonder what the heck MAY happen while I'm sleeping...that is if i can sleep. Between the running around with the rats, the iguanas shifting sleeping positions on their newspaper, Raymond slithering about, and the anoles hopping all over their cage I could swear I'm in a jungle. My friends hate sleeping over because of all the noise and not to mention the 50 million lights and my room is at 80 at all times. I find myself freezing when I'm in other parts of the house:P Anyone else have a similar issue? Just thought I'd share:sunny:

LOL.....I think that is what my husband is most afraid of when I start getting excited about so many different critters. Which is why I'm currently limited to 3...and each one is in its own room.....which is NOT and never will be our bedroom! :sleepy:

Haha yeah well my mom refuses to let me use the guest room so im forced to share my living space. The upkeep ( for no smell and such) is INSANE. I'm talking cleaning two or three times a day!

Re: Every Nights an adventure...
Do you have a basement or garage you could convert a piece of into a reptile room?

Re: Every Nights an adventure...
No:( I live in a small house with my mom. Only three bedrooms. Maybe I could move the snake into her room :D haha Im sure she would loooooove that:rolleyes:

Re: Every Nights an adventure...
i have a one bedroom apartment that i share with a roommate ( not my girlfriend unfortunately), all I could afford though. So that means since he pays more per month he gets the bedroom and I get the futon. Needless to say my room aka the living room is a damn jungle. I have rex the python, cootie, ollie, and spike the turtles, zanzabar, and harold the geckos, kahn the savannah monitor who is large and in charge, titus and solomon the water dragons, toby the veiled chameleon, kahlua and kujo the ferrets, two tree frogs, two anoles, and 20-30 fish (depending on how many the turtles eat), not to mention the roar of three waterfalls for the lizards, and the chirping of the crickets toby and the other fellows havent picked off yet to deal with. Its hard to monitor temps and humidity of 7 aquariums/vivariums when youre trying to stay comfortable yourself. I also deal with the nightlights, which look cool so i like em, haha. The bad part is Im always adding more to my collection, I cant help my addiction. I barely have room to sleep, im more concerned that everybody else has enough room to play!

Re: Every Nights an adventure...
i hear ya. we have three fish tanks in our bedroom... a 12 gallon where our little oscar is growing up... a 33 gallon where we grow up our feeder fish and make sure they are healthy and parasite free before using them for our oscar... and then our 46 gallon oscar tank...
of course, that's mostly because a) i love the sound of the water while i'm sleeping b) i love waking up to my oscar begging for food and c) we ran out of room in the rest of the house for tanks LOL

Hahahah Glad to see someone may just have space issues worse then me:P . Yeah I forgot to mention about the crickets chirping ( SO ANNOYING).

Re: Every Nights an adventure...
are you kidding? i looooove the sound of crickets chirping... i bring the container into my room when the crickets are larger just so i can hear them chirping thru the night!

Re: Every Nights an adventure...
oh god between the crickets, the lights, the water, ollie splashing in his tank (his favorite pastime), and kahn getting comfortable on his newspaper, I can barely get a moments peace! I cant lie, I deal with a lot and I still love all my animals. I cant say the same for the a**holes who put their pets on the street. I found a rabbit the other day in my apartments parking lot that was obviously a pet, then I found out the people across the street moved and let all their pets loose! I could not believe it, if it were up to me, I would take every creature I could into my house. How can people be so cruel? Oh did I mention that the frogs love to bellow out melodious numbers at 4 or 5 am every morning, wonderful to wake up to...

Re: Every Nights an adventure...
All my snakes are in the livingroom, all my lizards except my cresties are in the reptile room/dining/entry way.... and my cresties are in my room. I love having the cresties in my room, love the sound of thier water falls, love to listen to them making thier various crestie noises, and when I do leave a night light on, I can lay in bed and watch them move around and do crestie things when I cannot sleep. And when I am suffering a serious bought of sleeplessness, I often times get out of bed to hang out with and handle my cresties. I have found its the best time to interact with them anyhow.

Of our 4 pets (bp, bcc and 2 cats), my cat Cato is the loudest at night because he snores, hehe. =)

Re: Every Nights an adventure...
I've gotten so comfortable with the warmth that the kids' tanks let off that I'm more than happy to keep them in my room. That, and my room's the warmest in the apartment to begin with so it adds more heat to their tanks.

Re: Every Nights an adventure...
I feel like I live in a zoo, too, at night; our larger fish (the Oscar and the koi) are constantly splashing at the surface of their tank; and the 2 male clawed frogs are always creeeeeaking nightly for their females. The snakes are awesome to watch after dark; all 3 BPs and even my boa are so darn active after dark, it is crazy.
I have had trouble sleeping lately; our 2 horses are preggo and though they're not just about to have their foals yet, I still have dreams where they are calling out to their new babies and I jump awake; then there's my boyfriend who talks in his sleep, and it is a nuthouse around here! Not to mention we both work our hands to the bone supporting all this madness!
