"I break tradition. Sometimes my tries are outside the lines. We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way, no. Staring at the blank page before you, open up the dirty windows. Let the sun illuminate the words you that you ca not find. Reaching for something in the distance, so close you can almost taste it. Release you inhibitions."

    Hurt

    I hurt myself today
to see if I still feel
    I focus on the pain
    the only thing that's real
    the needle tears a hole
    the old familiar sting
try to kill it all away
    but I remember everything
    what have I become?
    my sweetest friend
    everyone I know
    goes away in the end
    you could have it all
    my empire of dirt
    I will let you down
    I will make you hurt
I wear my crown of ****
    on my liar's chair
    full of broken thoughts
    I cannot repair
    beneath the stain of time
    the feeling disappears
    you are someone else
    I am still right here
    what have I become?
    my sweetest friend
    everyone I know
    goes away in the end
    you could have it all
    my empire of dirt
    I will let you down
    I will make you hurt
    if I could start again
    a million miles away
    I would keep myself
    I would find a way

    Right Where It Belongs

see the animal in his cage that you built?
are you sure what side you're on?
better not look him too closely in the eye...
are you sure what side of the glass you're on?

see the safety of the life you have built?
    everything where it belongs...
feel the hollowness inside of your heart
and it's all right where it belongs...

what if everything around you isn't quite what it seems?
what if all the world you think you know is an elaborate dream?
and if you look at your reflection, is that all you want to be?
what if you could look right through the crack?
would you find yourself... find yourself afraid to see?

what if all the world's inside of your head?
    just creations of your own...
your devils and your gods and the living and the dead
    and you really are alone
you can live in this illusion
    you can choose to believe
you keep looking but you can't find words
are you hiding in the trees?

what if everything around you isn't quite what as seems?

what if all the world you used to know is an elaborate dream?
and if you look at your reflection, is that all you want to be?
what if you could look right through the cracks?
would you find yourself... find yourself afraid to see?</a>

" I'd rather laugh with the sinners and cry with the saints,
The sinners are much more fun" Billy Joel only the good die young.

Not really a Joel fan but that line I do love.

Don't have the lyrics on hand to print but The Pretender by Jackson Browne is one of my favs.

    Rockin Years
I’ll do everything I can to make you proud to be my man
And I’ll fulfill all you fantasies
I guess we’re promising a lot, but for now it’s all we’ve got
And I’ll stand by you thru our rockin’ years
    1st chorus:

Rockin’ chairs, rockin’ babies, rock-a-bye, rock of ages
Side by side we’ll be together always
And if you’ll hold me tight when you love me
That’s all I’ll ask of you
And I’ll stand by you thru our rockin’ years

I’ll be your friend, I’ll be your lover
Until the end, there’ll be no other
’cause my heart has only room for one
Yes, I’ll always love you, and I’ll always be here for you
And I’ll stand by you thru our rockin’ years

    Repeat 1st chorus

    2nd chorus:

Rockin’ chairs, rockin’ babies, rock-a-bye, rock of ages
Side by side, we’ll be together always
And, yes, I’ll always love you and I’ll always be here for you
And I’ll stand by you thru our rockin’ years, and I’ll be here
And I’ll stand by you thru our rockin’ years

    Re: Favorite Lyrics
Spawned wanton like blight on an auspicious night
Her eyes betrayed spells of the moon's eerie light
A disquieting gaze forever ghosting far seas
Bled white and dead, Her true mother was fed
To the ravenous wolves that the elements led
From crag-jagged mountains that seemingly grew in unease

Through the maw of the woods, a black carriage was drawn
Flanked by barbed lightning that hissed of the storm
(Gilded in crests of Carpathian breed)
Bringing slaves to the sodomite for the new-born
On that eve when the Countess' own came deformed
A tragedy crept to the name Bathory

Elizabeth christened, no paler a rose
Grew so dark as this sylph
    None more cold in repose
    Yet Her beauty spun webs
Round hearts a glance would betroth

    She feared the light
So when She fell like a sinner to vice
    Under austere, puritanical rule
    She sacrificed...
Mandragora like virgins to rats in the wall
But after whipangels licked prisoners, thralled
Never were Her dreams so maniacally cruel
    (And possessed of such delights)
For ravens winged Her nightly flights
    Of erotica
    Half spurned from the pulpit
    Torments to occur
Half learnt from the cabal of demons
    In Her
    Her walk went to voodoo
To see Her own shadow adored
    At mass without flaw
    Though inwards She abhored
    Not Her coven of suitors
But the stare of their Lord

"I must avert mine eyes to hymns
For His gaze brings dogmas to my skin
He knows that I dreamt of carnal rites
With Him undead for three long nights"

    Elizabeth listened
    No sermons intoned
Dragged such guilt to Her door
Tombed Her soul with such stone
For She swore the Priest sighed
When She knelt down to atone...

    She feared the light
    So when She fell
    Like a sinner to vice
    Under austere, puritanical rule
    She sacrificed
    Her decorum as chaste
To this wolf of the cloth
    Pouncing to haunt
    Her confessional box
    Forgiveness would come
When Her sins were washed off
    By rebaptism in white....

The looking glass cast Belladonna wreaths
'Pon the grave of Her innocence
    Her hidden face spat murder
From a whisper to a scream
    All sleep seemed cursed
    In Faustian verse
    But there in orgiastic Hell
    No horrors were worse
    Than the mirrored revelation
The She kissed the Devil's phallus
    By Her own decree...

So with windows flung wide to the menstrual sky
Solstice Eve She fled the castle in secret
A daughter of the storm, astride Her favourite nightmare
    On winds without prayer
Stigmata still wept between Her legs
A cold bloodedness which impressed new hatreds
    She sought the Sorceress
Through the snow and dank woods to the sodomite's lair

Nine twisted fates threw hewn bone die
    For the throat of Elizabeth
Damnation won and urged the moon
    In soliloquy to gleam
    Twixt the trees in shafts
    To ghost a path
Past the howl of buggered nymphs
    In the sodomite's grasp
    To the forest's center
    Where the witch scholared Her
    In even darker themes

    "Amongst philtres and melissas
Midst the grease of strangled men
    And eldritch truths, elder ill-omen
    Elizabeth came to life again"

And under lacerations of dawn She returned
Like a flame unto a deathshead
    With a promise to burn
    Secrets brooded as She rode
Through mist and marsh to where they showed
Her castle walls wherein the restless
    Counted carrion crows

She awoke from a fable to mourning
Church bells wringing Her madly from sleep
Tolled by a priest, self castrated and hung
Like a crimson bat 'neath the belfry
    The biblical prattled their mantras
    Hexes six-tripled their fees
But Elizabeth laughed, thirteen Autumns had passed
And She was a widow from god and His wrath, finally...

My absolute fave lyrics of all time:

    Garth Brooks, "The Dance":

    "Holding you,
    I held everything
    For a moment,
    Wasn't I a king?
    But If I'd only known,
    How the king would fall
    Hey who's to say,
You know I might have changed it all

    And now,
    I'm glad I didn't know
The way It all would end
The way It all would go
    Our lives,
    Are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain,
But I'da had to miss the dance."

All of the following are from Death Cab For Cutie... I think they have some of the best lyrics.

"What Sarah Said" (definately check out the rest of this song, these are just my fave lines)

"And it came to me then that every plan
Is a tiny prayer to father time...

    ...Love is watching someone die

So who’s going to watch you die?"

    "Brothers On A Hotel Bed"

"You may tire of me as our December sun is setting because I’m not who I used to be
No longer easy on the eyes but these wrinkles masterfully disguise
The youthful boy below who turned your way and saw
Something he was not looking for both a beginning and an end
But now he lives inside someone he does not recognize
When he catches his reflection on accident

On the back of a motor bike
with your arms outstretched trying to take flight
    leaving everything behind
but even at our swiftest speed we couldn't break from the concrete
in the city where we still reside.
And I have learned that even landlocked lovers yearn for the sea like navy men
Cause now we say goodnight from our own separate sides
like brothers on a hotel bed"

    "Transatlanticism"

"The Atlantic was born today, and I'll tell you how
The clouds above opened up and let it out
I was standing on the surface of a perforated sphere
when the water filled every hole
And thousands upon thousands made an ocean
making islands where no islands should go (oh no...)

Most people were overjoyed; they took to their boats
I thought it less like a lake and more like a moat
The rhythm of my footsteps crossing flatlands to your
    door have been silenced forevermore
    And the distance is quite simply much to far for me to row;
it seems farther than ever before (oh no...)

I need you so much closer..."

And Switchfoot "Let That Be Enough" (again, check out the rest of the song)

:And it all seems so helpless
    And I have no plans
I'm a plane in the sunset
    With nowhere to land"

Sorry for all that... but I have SO many fave song lyrics. I'm sure I'll add more as I think of them ;)

    Hands~ I LUV THIS ONE!
If I could tell the world just one thing
It would be that we're all OK
And not to worry 'cause worry is wasteful
And useless in times like these
    I won't be made useless
I won't be idle with despair
I will gather myself around my faith
For light does the darkness most fear
My hands are small, I know
But they're not yours, they are my own
But they're not yours, they are my own
    And I am never broken
    Poverty stole your golden shoes
    It didn't steal your laughter
And heartache came to visit me
But I knew it wasn't ever after
We'll fight, not out of spite
For someone must stand up for what's right
'Cause where there's a man who has no voice
    There ours shall go singing
My hands are small I know
But they're not yours, they are my own
But they're not yours, they are my own
    I am never broken
In the end only kindness matters
In the end only kindness matters
I will get down on my knees, and I will pray
I will get down on my knees, and I will pray
I will get down on my knees, and I will pray
My hands are small I know
But they're not yours, they are my own
But they're not yours, they are my own
    And I am never broken
My hands are small I know
But they're not yours, they are my own
But they're not yours, they are my own
    And I am never broken
    We are never broken
    We are God's eyes
    God's hands
    God's mind
    We are God's eyes
    God's hands
    God's heart
    We are God's eyes
    God's hands
    God's eyes
    We are God's hands
    We are God's hands

Slayer "Payback". I had to edit the lyrics. If it's still too vulgar, I'll remove it. :D

You need to take a closer look at me
Cause I was born to be the thorn in your side
No matter what you think you're gonna see
You never wanted this barrage of ******* pride
You don't want none of me

You've got a ******* catheter in your brain
    Pissing your common sense away
When you draw first blood you can't stop this fight
For my own peace of mind - I'm going to
    Tear your ******* eyes out
    Rip your ******* flesh off
Beat you till you're just a ******* lifeless carcass
    **** you and your progress
    Watch me ******* regress
You were made to take the fall - now you're nothing
    Payback's a ***** ************

You only live to be a parasite
Your life must suck when nothing's going your way
Everything melts away before your eyes
You're just a punk that doesn't have the sense to get away
    Get the **** away

You've got a ******* catheter in your brain
    Pissing your common sense away
When you draw first blood you can't stop this fight
For my own peace of mind - I'm going to
    Tear your ******* eyes out
    Rip your ******* flesh off
Beat you till you're just a ******* lifeless carcass
    **** you and your progress
    Watch me ******* regress
You were made to take the fall - now you're nothing
    Payback's a ***** ************
I will never become your ******* scapegoat
I don't know how it feels to come up short
    I only want vengeance
To come shining down on me
I don't want you to die
Before I get the chance to kill you myself

You've got a ******* catheter in your brain
    Pissing your common sense away
    This is for the mind****
This is for the hell of it
This is for me- I'm going to
    Tear your ******* eyes out
    Rip your ****ing flesh off
Beat you till you're just a ******* lifeless carcass
    **** you and your progress
    Watch me ******* regress
You were made to take the fall - now you're nothing
    Tear your ******* eyes out
    Rip your ******* flesh off
Beat you till you're just a ******* lifeless carcass
    **** you and your progress
    Watch me ******* regress
You were made to take the fall - now you're nothing

    "Gone" by Switchfoot

Don't say so long, you're not that far gone
This could be your big chance to make up
    Today will soon be

    Gone, like yesterday is gone
    Like history is gone
    The world keeps spinning on
    You're going, going, gone
    Like summer break is gone,
    Like saturday is gone
Just try to prove me wrong
    You pretend like you're immortal.

    We are not infinite
    We are not permanent
    Nothing is immediate
    We're so confident
    In our accomplishments
    Look at our decadence

Gone, like Frank Sinatra, like Elvis and his mom,
Like Al Pachino's cash, nothing lasts in this life
Gone, my high school dreams are gone,
    my childhood sweets are gone
Life is a day that doesn't last for long.

Life is more than money, time was never money
Time was never cash, life is still more than girls.
Life is more than hundred dollar bills and roto-tom fills,
Life is more than fame and rock and roll and thrills,
All the riches of the kings end up in wills
We've got information in the information age
but do we know what life is outside of our convenient Lexus cages? (fave lines)

She said he said live like no tomorrow
Every moment that we borrow brings us closer
to the God who's not short of cash
Hey Bono, I'm glad you asked
Life is still worth living, life is more than what we are.

    Crazy Train
Crazy, but that’s how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
    Maybe it’s not to late
    To learn how to love
    And forget how to hate

    Mental wounds not healing
    Life’s a bitter shame
I’m going off the rails on a crazy train

    I’ve listened to preachers
    I’ve listened to fools
    I’ve watched all the dropouts
    Who make their own rules
One person conditioned to rule and control
The media sells it and you have the role

    Mental wounds still screaming
    Driving me insane
I’m going off the rails on a crazy train

I know that things are going wrong for me
You gotta listen to my words
    Yeh-h

    Heirs of a cold war
    That’s what we’ve become
    Inheriting troubles I’m mentally numb
    Crazy, I just cannot bear
I’m living with something that just isn’t fair

    Mental wounds not healing
    Who and what’s to blame
I’m going off the rails on a crazy train

    Killer Of Giants
If none of us believe in war
Then can you tell me what the weapon's for
    Listen to me everyone
    If the button is pushed
    There'll be nowhere to run

    Giants sleeping giants winning wars
    Within their dreams
Till they wake when it's too late
    And in god's name blaspheme

Killer of giants threatens us all
Mountains of madness standing so tall
Marches of protest not stopping the war
    Or the killer of giants
    The killer of giants

Mother nature people state your case without its worth
Your seas run dry your sleepless eyes are turning red alert

Killer of giants threatens us all
Mountains of madness standing so tall
Rising so proudly it has nowhere to fall
    This killer of giants
    This killer of giants

Killer of giants threatens us all

Joe Holmes how played for ozzy after "Ozzmosis" was released comes to my store regularly. We also did some guitar setups and I got to hold Zakks bulls eye Les Paul. I had the chance to go to Ozzy's house, however my boss' son went:( I guess he was wandering around all over the house, and Ozzys people hated it

    Pantera- Walk

"Can't you see I'm easily bothered by persistence
One step from lashing out at you...
You want in to get under my skin
    And call yourself a friend
I've got more friends like you
    What do I do?

    Is there no standard anymore?
What it takes, who I am, where I've been
    Belong
You can't be something you're not
    Be yourself, by yourself
    Stay away from me
    A lesson learned in life
Known from the dawn of time

    Respect, walk

Run your mouth when I'm not around
    It's easy to achieve
You cry to weak friends that sympathize
Can you hear the violins playing you song?
Those same friends tell me your every word

    Are you talking to me?
    No way punk"

"A Box Full of Sharp Objects"

It's our time to shine through the dawn
    Glorified by what is ours
    We've fallen in love
    We've fallen in love
It was the best idea I ever had

Today I fell and felt better
    Just knowing this matters
I just feel stronger and sharper
Found a box of sharp objects what a beautiful

Today I fell and felt better
    Just knowing this matters
I just feel stronger and sharper
Found a box of sharp objects what a beautiful thing

Today I fell and felt better
    Just knowing this matters
I just feel stronger and sharper
Found a box of sharp objects what a beautiful thing

Do you want a song of glory
Well I'm f**king screaming at you

It's our time to shine through the dawn
    Glorified by what is ours
    We've fallen in love
    We've fallen in love
It was the best idea I ever had

Today I fell and felt better
    Just knowing this matters
I just feel stronger and sharper
Found a box of sharp objects what a beautiful

Today I fell and felt better
    Just knowing this matters
I just feel stronger and sharper
Found a box of sharp objects what a beautiful thing

Oh yikes, I could go on all day with this post.. But here are a few since ya asked. (a side lote.. I llooooove Slayer, hehe.)

    New Order; True Faith

    I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
    A sudden sense of liberty
    I don't care 'cause I'm not there
And I don't care if I'm here tomorrow
Again and again I've taken too much
Of the things that cost you too much
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear..
When I was a very small boy,
Very small boys talked to me
Now that we've grown up together
They're afraid of what they see
That's the price that we all pay
Our valued destiny comes to nothing
    I can't tell you where we're going
I guess there was just no way of knowing....
The chances are we've gone too far
You took my time and you took my money
Now I fear you've left me standing
In a world that's so demanding.

    I'll post more!!

Indeed, Slayer DOES rule. I prefer old Slayer though as opposed to new Slayer.

Me too; I went to see them last summer at Darien Lake, and they played almost all old stuff! It was an awesome show.

Nice to see some metalheads on here.

I've been a metalhead for 21 years now. I'm 26 BTW :D! Dunno if youve heard 'em but my avatar photo is "Abbath" from "Immortal" ... Easily one of the best Norwegian black metal bands of all time. Here's a link to my MySpace page. Can get an Idea of which bands I dig. Plus. it's got some cool music videos!

I'll name some of my favorites; Type O Negative is up there at the top of that list. I could probably waste fifty tons of bandwidth posting all of their lyrics, lol. I really like Mudvayne alot too; wasn't into them til my man got a CD of theirs, now I am addicted. Samael is cool too, if you like a little more of an electronic-piano type thing.
I am completely weird though; I like this type of stuff but also have a penchant for 80s and new wave; I ain't ashamed to say I love Depeche Mode and even The Smiths. And then there's bands like Sisters of Mercy and NIN, which are just givens.

well you have to go with Bruce Springsteen,Milessia Etheridge,U2 And Genesis for the best bodies of lyrics out there, good to see so many johnny Cash fans out there. but still a big fan of The sex pistols and the Dead milkmen. On the other hand still Searning for mettilca to kill them for murdering one of the Greatest songs of all time turn the page, leave it to a band with little or no musical talent to destory a lasting piece of genius.

yes i know Trent Renznor did it first but you have to admit Jonny did it better.

I think metallica is so-so; not a huge fan but I really didn't like their remake of Turn The Page, as you said Mike. I am not much for cover tunes, generally, but there are a few I like.

Metallica = Napster of Puppets. Heh ...

I started out with Iron Maiden when I was 5. Then when I was 6 I got into Van Halen. When I was 11, I saw Ace Ventura Pet Detective. Cannibal Corpse was playing in that club scene. Since then I've been into more of the extreme end of metal. Like, Napalm Death, Vomitory, Carcass, Nile, Burzum, Mayhem, Emperor, Gorguts, Death (R.I.P. Chuck) and some others. I also dig lighter bands like The Misfits, Nightwish, King Diamond, The Exploited and others.

    Complete Lyrics:

    "Dune Buggy"

A little blind spider took the wheel
Navigatin' grass blades completely by feel
Got a sassy chassis, sparklin in the sun
All four small bald fat tires
rockin through the sand and burnin' up

Little dune buggy in the sand
little blue dune buggy in my hand

I got a rubber-band motor hummin' on a beach, ready for fun
Quit spinnin' and webbin', come out play in the sun
Eight thimble-sized cylinders, be as smooth as you please
Spider's bad-*** fat old abdomen stuck in the buggy seat

Squishy transmission was caught in drive
Spider man was squinting at the sand in the sky
Spider woman in the front seat, screamin' "Go, Go, Go,"
He's ridin' the accelerator down to the floor with his fuzzy little toe

    Little blue dune buggy

this is one of my all time favoirtes from the Deadmilkmen punk is so much better then metal.

    Big lizard in my backyard
Can't afford to feed him anymore
    Big lizard in my backyard
    Bustin' down my neighbour's door

    I bought a big lizard
    Only a dollar fifty
    Well, that's pretty neat
    Yeah it's f****' nifty
But I just can't afford to feed it
And you should see the way it s***s

I've got a big lizard in my backyard
Can't afford to feed it anymore
    Big lizard in my backyard
    Bustin' down my neighbour's door

    I was knocked outta bed
    Late last night
I was woken up by the sound of dynamite
I ran downstairs to find an army man
He said "We gotta blow up those things we don't understand!"

There's no more big lizard in my backyard
I won't have to feed him anymore
No more lizard in my backyard
    They shipped to El Salvador!

    Was knocked outta bed
    Late last night
I was woken up by the sound of dynamite
I ran downstairs to find an army man
He said "We gotta blow up those things we don't understand!"

    Big lizard in my backyard

This is an awosme song my one of the best live perfomers ever if you ever get a chance to see Tori live take it.

Five AM Friday morning Thursday night far from sleep
I'm still up and driving can't go home obviously
So I'll just change direction cause they'll soon know where I live
    And I wanna live
Got a full tank and some chips

    It was me
    And a gun
    And a man
    On my back
And I sang "Holly Holy" as he buttoned down his pants

    You can laugh
    It's kind of funny
    Things you think
    Times like these
Like I haven't seen Barbados so I must get out of this
Yes I wore a slinky red thing
Does that mean I should spread for you, your friends
    Your father, Mr. Ed

    It was me
    And a gun
    And a man
    On my back
But I haven't seen Barbados so I must get out of this

And I know what this means
Me and Jesus a few years back used to hang
And he said "It's your choice babe just remember
I don't think you'll be back in three days time so you choose well"
    Tell me what's right
Is it my right to be on my stomach of Fred's Seville

    It was me
    And a gun
    And a man
    On my back
But I haven't seen Barbados so I must get out of this

    And do you know Carolina
Where the biscuits are soft and sweet
These things go through your head when there's a man on your back
And you're pushed flat on your stomach it's not a classic Cadillac

    It was me
    And a gun
    And a man
    On my back
But I haven't seen Barbados so I must get out of this
I haven't seen Barbados so I must get out of this
