    Moving
We're finally getting the move to Toledo accomplished. We'll be moving April 13th and 14th so please excuse me if I'm not around as much over the next week or so (though this may be the only place that keeps me sane!)

Can't wait! Civilization here we come! A world where hi-speed internet exists, our beloved Detroit Red Wings are only an hour away, trips to the zoo that don't involve 9 hour round trip driving with kids in the car, snake shows, actual OMG malls, digital cable, and best of all...food delivered right to our door! Imagine that! *feels faint with the excitement of picking up a phone and having someone actually bring chinese food to my home*

Yup....whenever the military moves us someplace else, one of the top requirements on the house-hunting checklist is high-speed. We won't even look at any that don't have access.

In a few years I'll be doing that too...Justin(boyfriend) is going into the military and so I'll have to handle that. Military likes snakes, right? ^_^

So far as I know, there aren't any restrictions on owning snakes while living in military quarters....but I'm only speaking from AF experience, and I didn't actually own any during the years we would live on base. But "pets in glass tanks" aren't usually a problem.

That being said...if you're going to be a military family, you will, out of necessity, need to keep your collection relatively small. Imagine trying to pack up and move 10 or 20 reptiles (some of them very sensitive to environment changes) every couple of years? Sometimes with very short notice. And imagine never knowing what sort of house/apt you may live in next time, so you may not have an extra room...or even any extra space...for lots and lots of critters.

Just a little FYI from an experienced military spouse. ;)

Ugh. When I lived in Texas, we had one fifteen minutes away. I live in Richmond, Virginia now and there's one about...two hours away. -Cries.- I miss my coconut creme pie shake!

    Re: Moving
Thanks for the best wishes all! We are really looking forward to the move for a ton of reasons. Beth can't wait to have a Sonic close by (which reminds me I need to mapquest the new address to the closest Sonic!)

Go Bucks???? Do you want Mike to die!!!! Go Michigan ALWAYS! :carrot:

It's only about 300 miles so not a huge move but still as with any move...really stressful. I'm kind of a tidy person (any of you say I'm like Monk...I'll smack ya! LOL) so all the boxes piled around is about driving me mad LOL. Oh well one more week of the craziness and at least I can order in a dang meal while we unpack the stuff at the other end.

Got all our plans down for the snakes and rats so they should travel just fine though the snakes will be missing their usual Thursday night feeding. Now as long as I don't lose (or accidentally pack) the super important "Everything I Need To Remember About This Move" folder I'll be fine! :D

My suggestion is don't ask, don't tell!!! (I was in the army) If you live on post the rules are getting strict. My neighbors found out I had burmese pythons when I lived on post, I was forced to get rid of them. At the time, there was no rules against them. My ex-wife used to brag about the snakes, the neighbor found out that was scared of snakes and reported me. So all I can say is "don't tell anyone"!!

Okay no one panic!!!! I googled Sonic and there doesn't appear to be one in Toledo - how will I break this to Beth????? On the upside there is a White Castle and 2 Tim Horton's! Hopefully that will appease her (how dare Sonic not have a dang franchise in Toledo!) Tim Hortons :tongue2:

Oh Jo! I'm so thrilled for you! While I have never lived in outer Mongolia I once visited Christie in Camden, AK...let's just say I never visited again while she was there.

Good luck on the move and getting everyone safely there....oh yeah, and long live the lists! I commend you on your moving folder of organization and am slightly jealous you got to make such a folder!

    Signed,

best of luck with the move jo. yeah for high speed internet, cable and food delivery services! i never knew what those things were until i moved from my teeny little virginia mountain town where i grew up to go to school so i feel your excitement! as for sonic, you should take a road trip here over the summer while robin is at tybee and then we can all go to sonic together! how many of them are in little savannah..2?..3? i'm not even sure. :P

    Re: Moving
Well I decided I best get a folder Wendy when I spent an hour arranging the moving truck and some temp storage for a few huge outdoor play equipment pieces...then proceeded to immediately lose my notes! They had confirmation numbers and contact numbers and ACK! Another hour wasted calling U-Haul back to get all the information again and who has an hour to waste! *huggles her folder which will keep her organized and semi-sane throughout the next week or so*

Oh just to drive my hubby nuts my moving folder is bright pink with a wierd cartoon siamese cat on it! hehehehehehehe Gotta find something funny to put a grin on my face even when I'm dealing with yet another stupid detail. :P

Sorry to offend those that love WC. You either love them or hate them and I was definitely in the latter group. =)

In-N-Out is a California burger chain that is branching out a bit (for example, there's an In-N-Out in Vegas and there's some in AZ). Extremely simple menu: burger, cheeseburger, double cheese-double burger (i.e., double-double), fries, soft drink or shake. But all super fresh every day, everything made at each store locally. DE-LISH!

No Sonic's in Columbus, either! Sorry, Jo! The nearest one is pretty far south of here... looked it up on the map.

I could recommend some great places to eat here in the capital, though, for when you come to the show :)
