it all depends on the snake and what and how often they eat.

She'll poop when she's ready. Cleo went almost four weeks without pooping and then deposited a HOOOGE poopy. Then it was another couple weeks and then she pooped twice in one week. They go when they're ready to go. =)

It can vary a lot from snake to snake as they age as well.

When I first got Issa (my first ball python) as a baby, he would go about once a week.

Now that he's an adult, he's save it up for about a month and then let it all go in one huge mess. :bleh:

    Re: Pooping question
Depending on the size and age of your BP it could also be ready for something bigger than a fuzzy rat which is younger than a rat pup (which is about equivalent to an adult mouse). How does the rat fuzzy compare to the biggest girth of your snake sizewise?

Snakes don't go all that often really. As long as it's eating an appropriate prey once per week and has access to clean water to drink then it's likely going to defecate when it feels the need to. Does it pass urates okay?

    Pass urates? What's that mean?

    Re: Pooping question
Urates are a chalky white/yellow color, and are a solid waste. They are actually part of the urinary tract system. Some people mistake them for poo.

    Re: Pooping question
my RTB had 4-5 urates over the course of a month, before finally he poo'd lol it was huge and soft, not runny, just sometimes they will hold onto everything they got for nutrition, i've since bumped him up to a larger prey item and he seems to be liking them better anyway lol.....the BP will get her first feeding on thursday hopefully she'll be settled in by then lol.

    Re: Pooping question
Rats when they are born are hairless, eyes closed and are called "pinks". This lasts till they are about 8 or 9 days old when their coats start to develop. That stage is called "fuzzy" and it lasts till they are about 14 days old. At that age their eyes start to open and their coat fully develops...they are then called "pups". They are pups till they wean at about 3.5 to 5 weeks of age (depending on the rat breeder some wean at 3.5 weeks...some wean at 5 weeks). At around 2.5 weeks the rat pups will start taking food and water independently but still are nursing from the female. Each stage has a lot of growth in it...so a rat fuzzy for instance that is just 9 days old will be considerably smaller than one that is 13 days old...same for pinks and especially for pups as they get closer to the time they will be weaned.

Here's a link to RodentPro. It shows excellent photo's of each size of rats as well as measurements and weights.
