    Bite Pics
Well today Fluffy my Asian Water Monitor was not in the mood to be handled, even though I had to do some cleaning and water change, and she let me know it.

I thought I would share these pics as we get alot of perspective monitor owners around here, to show that even a monitor that is tame can and still may bite at times.

and a pic of Fluffy for those that have not seen her.

She is a great monitor, and only about 1/4 of her adult size right now.

VERY impressive lady you have there. And I hope you cleaned that bite well. I hear monitor saliva is pretty nasty stuff.

    Lovely tag there.

Water monitors get HUGE. At the reptile zoo I used to work at they had a 6' one that was about oh.. 60lbs probably.

you could get an ackie. they onlu get about 2 feet. yellow ackies are about 19-20 inches, and they'll only need a 3' cage as an adult. they're very cool little moniters.

Ooh nasty - I'm dreading my first bite from my sav - he's cute at the moment and never attempts to bite - he's probably storing it up till he's BIG and then take me by surprise one day when we've run out of vinegar ...

if he ever bulldogs you again you can drop a little vinegar or some alcohol (drink not rubbing) around your hand where she's stuck and she'll let go.

Nasty little bites. She's cute though. Who would have thought someone could be so cute and cause so much...pain?

Does it not always work? I've (fortunately) never been bitten by my sav yet so haven't needed to use vinegar. Think I'll keep some JD beside the vinegar bottle beside the viv ...
