Im thinking about going to a local show coming up. In general are show prices any better than internet prices.

You can usually find excellent deals at shows. Especially as it starts to wind down. Many keepers would rather sell their critters at lower prices than haul them back home again.

Plus, you get the very important benefit of being able to see the animals in person...handle them if that is appropriate...and talk to the vendors/breeders to get a better feel for their integrity, as well as ask direct questions about the history/care of the animal in question.

I was also thinking about picking up some BP's at the NY metro Reptile show...How can I tell if a BP is Het for anything??? Is there some documentation or is it all Trustin the word of the dealer??

Some breeders provide documentation...maybe most. But some do not. Regardless, papers can easily be faked, so they are not a guarantee of honesty. Personally, I would not buy a non-visible het (normal looking) from someone that I didn't already have some sort of raport and trust with, or a breeder who has a well-established name and no need to cheat anyone.

Reptile shows rock! I have witnessed and purchased many a good deal from them. I would so totally choose a show over getting stuff online, because 1)you can see your purchase 2) no shipping!

i have been to quite a few shows over the last couple years, they are great.
like the others have said you can get great deals on the animals with no shipping fees.
but please make sure you talk to the dealer, ask lots of questions about the animal and watch out for the "cold snake" trick.

maybe try and go to a few of them with the idea that you arent going to bring anything home just want to go to check out whats there and get to know the dealers a bit, get their cards (if offered) check them out on the BOI.

i know i made my mistakes when i first started going to the shows being new to reptiles and all but have learned alot too along the way.

LOL, i know it would be a very hard thing to do to just go and not come home with anything but if your will is stronger then mine (and i'm sure most on here) it can be done

Huh...that's good to know. Ask to the hold the snake so it warm ups and THEN see if it's docile or a meanie head. Good tip!
