Helix DBS 1000 (best online store?)
I need to pick up 3 of these asap for my setup. Are there local places, or some reputable online stores that have these for a decent price, and also have fast turn around? I checked on mgreptiles but they are out of stock.
LLLreptiles and reptilebasics appear to have them in stock. Ive never had experience with these guys/turn around time.
Thanks,
Bryan

Call or email Matt at MG reptiles. He sells Helix and is a great guy. I wouldnt hesitate to give him my hard earned cash (and have repeatedly!) :)

Re: Helix DBS 1000 (best online store?)
Matt steered me away from helix, and when I checked his online store I see he doesnt have any in stock, so because I need these within a week, i will have to find them somewhere else.

Re: Helix DBS 1000 (best online store?)
If Matt is out of them, as you say, then I would go with LLLreptile. They have a sterling reputation. I don't know what their turn-around time is, but if you tell them you need them fast, I'm sure they have options for faster shipping (for a price, of course! LOL) Reptilebasics may be just as good, but I personally don't know anything about them.

So back to the topic of where to buy from. I have never ordered from LLLLL (how many was that?). To sum up, I have been of no help.

Re: Helix DBS 1000 (best online store?)
I purchased my Helix from Reptile Basics last Friday, it arrived at my job yesterday. Fast turn around, great service! I highly recommend them!

Re: Helix DBS 1000 (best online store?)
After discussing thermostats with Adam a while back I decided to go with Helix...I mean, come on guys 10 years or so of keeping snakes with who knows how many different brands of stats, he knows what he's talking about. I ordered mine from LLLReptile on Friday and it came fedex today, I'll be setting that puppy up with my rack that just went in the box today for shipment tomorrow!
Props to Adam, bastages!:P /whispers to everyone *go to the dark side*

Re: Helix DBS 1000 (best online store?)
why would you need 3 of them? if they're all the same size tubs and in the same area ie...a rack, you would only need 1 to run each shelf or rack, now if you have 3 diff, kind of setups and need them at diff. temps, i'll shut up :P

Re: Helix DBS 1000 (best online store?)
Helix all the way for us! (and we're happy over here on the dark side! *whispers* come over to the dark side...we have cookies!!! :lmao: )

Re: Helix DBS 1000 (best online store?)
Here is a question that I have for those of you who use Helix (as this is my first one). When I ordered mine from Reptile Basics, he had two versions. One with ground and one without. I erred on the side of caution and paid $5 more for the grounded version. Was it necessary? Do you prefer grounded or does it matter?
-
Re: Helix DBS 1000 (best online store?)
Oh good question Robin. When I looked I also chose the grounded version. I know squat about electrical stuff but hey grounded sounded safer lol.

Are they homemade though? Satan always provides homemade cookies.

Re: Helix DBS 1000 (best online store?)
I had called helix and they told me the grounded one is for a metal rack so you dont get shocked. I left it at that because they know what they are doing. just letting you know what helix told me!

Can someone answer my question about grounded? Back to your regularly scheduled off topic banter! ;)

Grounded = 3 prong plug, 3 prong outlet
Standard = 2 prong plug, 2 prong outlet
If your heat source (heat tape, heat rope, CHE, RHP, etc) is wired as a grounded (3 prong) heating device, then your need the DBS-1000G ... If your heat source (heat tape, heat rope, CHE, RHP, etc) is not wired as a grounded (2 prong) heating device, then the standard DBS-1000 is fine.
Since Helix started making the grounded units, that's all I buy ... gives the most flexibility ... I'm slowly replacing all of my old units with groundeds as well.

Thanks Adam - that was sort of my train of thought. If I had anything that was a 3 prong plug in the future, I'd be in a quandry, and a 2 prong can plug into either. I think I made the right choice! ;)

www.beanfarm.com
I've had great experiences with The Bean Farm for Helix as well as other products. The service is friendly while still being professional and the shipments always arrive on time and correct. In fact, I just received a DBS1000 five minutes ago from them. Helix is a great product and comes with excellent reviews. No disapointments. Chris

Re: Helix DBS 1000 (best online store?)
I prefer, and sell a lot of, the grounded models. While almost none of the commonly used heat sources use a grounded plug the grounded model will make it VERY easy to plug an outlet strip into your Helix. Something that we almost all have to do sooner or later and virtually every outlet strip on the earth has a grounded (3 prong) plug.
