Don't think that would work for a bp, as they hunt warm-blooded animals. But some snakes, such as the hognose, like to eat frogs.

well, my friend used to feed his red tail frogs that he caught outside his house
and the snake seemed to enjoy them

Are you saying you want to feed your bp frogs? I suppose you can try. I'd be very interested in hearing how it turns out.

But what's the point, other than to prove that they "might" take them? I don't see any need to feed them anything other than mice or rats. Why fix what ain't broke?

i don't think a bp would be the best snake to experiment on.

This thread should be attached to the other one about alternate food items. Why? Why is it necessary to experiment. Feed your snake, cat, dog, pet rock what it is supposed to eat. I just dont get it...

Wouldn't just feeding your snake mice/rats be more healthy too? I'd imagine frogs don't carry the diet requierments that a small mammal has.....

not to mention that most frogs are toxic... definitely not a good idea to be feeding frogs to a snake.

    I'd worry about parasites too.

Rodents are cheap, easy to get and oh so nutritious. BPs were made to eat small furry things, not toxic slimy things.

Also, be careful that you are only trying out frogs and not toads. There are glands right behind toads ears that are down right deadly to most all snakes. They are having a huge issue with this right now in Australia because the Toad has run rampant and is killing all the native snakes that try to eat it. Basically, the toad gets killed by the snake but the snake is killed once those glands on the toads get in it's mouth.

I agree with everyone else... Why would you want to "try" something?

I've seen a garter snake eat a toad, it was a wild snake that lived under the back steps of my house for many years, but shortly after it regurged the toad, and the little thing hopped away! :O

okay I tried really hard not to post here but the level of stupity of this idea is just not going to go away. Bp's eat rats or mice mainly or other things in the wild I'm shure they will eat gerbils hamsters and shuch all small furry rodents though if your just looking for a cheap or free food source shure u can find one in the type of prey item that bp's eat. The most important question to ask yourself when feeding your bp is what's best for it to eat. As the owner and the human in the equation your greater evolutionary development gives you the ablity to ponder these ideas on what may or may not be an alterntaive food source for your Bp, as a mental excersice they are fine but thats where they should stay.
