Problems using IE as FTP client
I usually use Internet Explorer as a FTP client on my other computer....no problems.....since my computer is down for the count, i have been using my wife's computer...and for some reason I can not even get a login screen to pop up when I try to transfer files....any suggestions why not?

I've never had consistent performance with IE.

SmartFTP is a good and fairly intuitive FTP client you can use www.smartftp.com

I use Filezilla, but likely it was a passive FTP site and passive FTP wasnt enabled in the IE options.

Tools --> Internet Options --> Advanced --> Use Passive FTP

Thanks Jamie. The "Use Passive FTP" button was checked.....but the "Enable folder view of FTP sites" was not....it works now.

I tend to like IE as a FTP client.....because it is just like having a folder open on you desktop....

Have you tried using Mozilla firefox, not for ftp but I believe it blows IE away. Top rated browser.

Firefox has been a bit wonky on me with the last update, but even then it's still a million times better than IE in my experience. I dunno how I functioned before tabs, lol!

Smart FTP works kind of like that - and if you find yourself doing mixed transfers (ASCII/binary) things tend to come out a little more consistently ;)
