    Water bowls and hides.
What do most people use for thier BP's in tubs? I have my two BPs in 90 qt sterilite tubs. With the two hides and water bowls it is tight. The males waterbowl is smaller and seems to give him more room, but I'm not sure if its big enough. I have a dog food dish for the females water bowl. ITs the 99 cent things from wally world, but I don;t like it. The base is too big. Also what do you guys use for hides too. At the moment I am using small priority mail boxxes and it looks like the fill them out nicely so I just was wondering what you guys use.

I use the plastic drip tray for planter pots. They come in a bunch of different sizes so you can replace them as your snake grows. Some people put holes in the top, but I've been cutting an opening in the side.

Lawrence do you use them for water dishes too? Also do they come deep enough for adult BP's?

water dishes have to be heavy enough so they dont get knocked around much too, some dog dishes are good for that, if not too large

Yeah snakey I have a dog dish in my females tub, but the base is too big. I may buy one of those heavy dishes. I need to stop trying to be frugal and just buy what I need. LMAO I will do some reseach some more and try to find something to use other than what I have. Thanks alot guys/gals!!

How big are your BP's? I have 450g females in 15qt tubs, and 600g females in 32qt... and they've still got a LOT of growing to do... (probably close to 1500-2000g before I'd move them out of the 32qts)

These are what we use for hides for all the bigger BP's. Just a heavy rubber dog dish from the local feed/tack store - $3.99 or thereabouts. I like them because they are heavy, they don't slide around much, easy to clean, have a nice flat roof and are dark black. The snakes love em! They are hard to cut...Mike uses tin snips to make the entrance hole.

This is Brannagh in her tub, showing two dog dish hides plus her water dish. It's just a terracotta planter overfill dish but it is the sealed kind rather than the raw terracotta.

We are going to change over to Adam's idea. You take a PVC plumbing coupler I think it is then pop in a disposable deli type cup. The snakes don't mess in the water or knock it over and there's no dishes to scrub out. Smart guy that Adam! LOL

I use pet crock dishes like these:

They're pretty easy to clean and heavy enough so they don't spill too easily. As far as hides for large adults, I use small kitty litter boxes from Walmart. I'm only using one at the moment for a shy adult as the rack seems to be secure enough for my other adults. I think I like Jo's large water bowl hide better as the snakes seem to like the ability to curl up in a circular shape instead of a rectangular shape like the kitty litter box. :)

Ken my snakes are full grown. I don't have wieghts. I need to weight them. They are about 12-15 years old. The tubs I have them in are the same size that Matt sells, but twice as tall. I had them in a huge cage together most of thier life, and they were used to roaming the cage at times. So I felt like it would be wrong of me to all of a sudden confine them to the 6 inch tall tubs. So I got the 12 inch tall ones. Now if I get any more snakes they will go in the 6 inch ones since its what they are used to already. This is a picture of my setup.

I will have to look for those water bowls for hides I like those. A dremel cutting disk will make easy work of cutting them. The USPS boxes are only temp. I will have to look for those water dishes though I like those too. Thanks everyone for your input!!

They are from the Miller Little Giant line of products. Generally you'll see them in farm/feed/tack type stores. Their product line is great as it's made to cater to mostly farm folks who don't like to buy stuff that falls apart from heavy use LOL.

We get these dog dish rubber feeding bowls from our local store...here's a link to the Miller Little Giant website page with a selection of sizes (grey tabs take you to each product line). They do not sell direct to the public but I believe there is a link there for stores that carry their product line, if not they supply a customer service number on their site as well.

Here's the link to the original forum thread so you can see the discussion on them. The one in the pictures I post is the 2 qt one. It seems to nicely fit our bigger females though Brannagh at 2,200 grams does the turtle thing so I need to order the next size up for that fat butt snake lol

Thanks Jo! I will look for them. If I can't find them at our local feed and seed then I will call to find out if they have a store close by that sells them.
