What do little girls pick out for pets?
My little girl wanted a kitten, but she was so terrified of it that I had to get rid of the poor thing. She wanted a pet though. After a month of letting her look at EVERY animal out there for her own pet...she fell in love with a Mexican Rosy Boa. She was the happiest little girl in the world when she found him.

By then, Niah will have more snakes in which to scare the crap out of potential boyfriends...and you can meet her dates at the door with a big boa or burm wrapped around you...much scarier than a shotgun!

Why not BOTH!?

Re: What do little girls pick out for pets?
Heh, that is true, showing up with both would just about do it!

Re: What do little girls pick out for pets?
That is the best idea I have ever heard!!! I giant Boa and a shotgun? I think four BCIs would do it. That would make them think twice about her. The keepers, of course, would love the snakes and not run. Hehe

But then you could ask to see how they keep their snakes...if they take care of their snakes, they'll probably take care of your daughter. =)

Re: What do little girls pick out for pets?
That is too cute!
My daughter is 9yrs old and she loves all our snakes, she's been around snakes since she could walk. She helps clean the tubs, water bowls, handle the babies, check temps, etc.
She's an old pro in reading the snakes, she knows when/how to handle them and more importantly, when to back off.
It's too cute!

Re: What do little girls pick out for pets?
Beth (our 12 year old) came up to me one day, out of the blue (and we haven't raised her with snakes mind you) and says in this calm voice...."I'm going to have my own Platty Daddy one day". I sorta blinked and said..."umm hon, where did you hear of that snake?". She gives me that typical "good lord muuuuther" look and says...."well at Ralph Davis' site of course!"
I didn't know she even knew who Ralph was, let alone was eyeing his Platty Daddy LOL.
Course she's already scheming and planning rat breedings to practise her genetics and when she got her female albino milksnake she was already thinking ahead to the het for albino male she wants (she's figured out a clutch with both albino and 100% het for albino normals is a good thing! LOL)
So watch out folks....Beth's on her way up! LOL
~~Jo~~
P.S. Reference that pic of my husband....be very afraid Jim...that's his happy face!!!! LMAO. Something about the cross of his Italian and Irish heritage...what can I say.

Re: What do little girls pick out for pets?
It's good to remind your kids that they are also supposed to support mom and dad'd hobbies too! LOL.

Re: What do little girls pick out for pets?
Nice pic..I might have kids someday....

Re: What do little girls pick out for pets?
Do it while you can still enjoy the grandkids...I can't wait to be an old fart with tons of grandkids running around. Life goal.

Re: What do little girls pick out for pets?
Rosys make great snakes for kids.....their small size and gentle nature are perfect...I have a breeding pair right now and I am hoping that Jewel (female) will have a litter this year. My nephews who are five and six love to hold em'..they're great!
