I'm ready for my close up

Carmen seems to be doing much better and has been moving around her cage a bit more, so Rick snapped a few quick pictures while I had her out for a minute. Click each picture for larger, dial-up-warning, version.

Since she seems to be doing much better, we gave her a small meal yesterday - and we found her in her warm hide this morning!* Yay! Keep your fingers crossed for us that she's calmed down and is ready to be a good snakey girl...=)

*She spent most of the first week coiled up in the plants or along the glass in the corners of the cage, obviously not warm enough, hence my relief of her regularly now wanting to be warm.

Carmen is definately a mommies girl... seriously.

When we get her out, if I'm handling her she is not happy and tries to get away... but she doesn't run (slither) for freedom, cover, or nooks or crannies or crevices... nooooo she makes a beeline for Cass everytime. Sickening I tell you!

Since we've had her we've been concerned as she seemed pretty unhappy in her viv. She was lathargic, would always hide in the back corners behind the plants, wouldn't come out and ignored the hides we put in on the warm and cool sides. Also when we returned her back into her viv after handling she would try really hard to get back out as we were trying to get her in...

But since Friday she has been much more 'normal'. Using her hides, and we see her out and about climbing on her logs, on the plants. Generally doing snakey-like things, and not acting like an inmate on death-row.

So yay!

It all works out because Cleo is a Daddy's girl all the way. She tolerates me because I am the provider of mouse, but that's it...Daddy > Mommy in her little snakey eyes. ;)

LOL just a freudian slip type of typo Ken. Rauri's actually been Becky's snake from before he came into the house so he's always been a foster more than a rescue. I was on the phone to Becky within minutes of finding out we needed to go pick up this BCI, confirming she wanted him. She'd expressed interest and along with Adam, had given me guidance to help the snake's previous owner attempt to keep him properly (which was NOT working out).

Nope Rauri's always been Becky's boy but we've enjoyed the experience tremendously and as much as we'll miss him come spring, we are looking forward to getting Severus in from Lynne and helping our son, Luke, raise him up.

I know he's Becky's..... and I also know that you've grown very attached to him. Him and Mike watching Hockey and the like... I'm sure he will be missed... but like you said.. just think of how many balls you can put in the space he took up!! :)

LOL Ken...don't tempt me! Nope no more herp purchases until we know if we are moving or not and when and all that jazz. Besides when Rauri flies off to Texas, Severus the young BCI is coming in so the house will still have a BCI in it...just a considerably littler one LOL. I'm sure Mike will have Severus watching hockey, football and whatever other manly man things a male snake needs to do in a very short order.
