Update on the newer girl...

I recieved an '03-04ish female from a customer at work, on a trade, for a larger burmese because he was "bored" with the ball. Psshh. Whatever. Anyways, this guy must have kept her in a desert cage or something because she had the usual retained shed and wrinkled eyes. With some advice (thanks Adam!) I found the problem with her eyes was not from retained caps, but a condition caused by exposure to low levels of humidity for a long period of time. This is what they looked like:

I'm reluctant to call this a true rescue, her feeding response is second to none! Luckily she didn't sweat her previous husbandry too badly. Anyways, here she is, a couple of weeks and one shed later:

I didn't really do anything else but set her up in the proper conditions, and the eye issue just worked itself out. She's weighing in at 1400 grams and growing, perfect for my male pastel next season!

She's got one heck of a tail stripe there! Lovely ball python.

Wow....I think you got the best end of that deal! And on top of being an almost mature female...she's beautiful too! You lucky dog, you! :P

Thanks guys. she was looking ROUGH right when I got her. Amazing how resilient these guys are when you just give them the proper conditions. You can still see a small healed burn right where that tail stripe starts...it looks pretty old though.

Poor girl... She looks to be doing lots better, great job. :) And yes, what a tail!

She's beautiful!!!! And lucky to be in a good home now!

Oh she's lovely and yes it is amazing how they come along well once they get the simple basics of life done properly for them. Wonderful snake and a wonderful thing she is now with you and can get on with blossoming into a beautiful mature female.

man I need to find a couple nice female like that for this year

I'm a full-time college student and work at a pet store part-time for extra cash and, more importantly, a hook up on animals that can't be beat. I got a 3000 gram female in november for $50....most of these girls are just pets and their owner get tired of them and sell or trade them in for next to nothing. As in this girls case, they need a little bit of TLC, but its worth it for me, and they get a much better home.

so, how many more empty tubs in the rack? lol

Update on the dude with the burm:

He came in last night and bought a couple viles of Amacacin(sp?) to treat a respitory infection. Now he doesn't know if he wants to keep it, and wants something "hardier".....some people I swear!!!

Silly boring snakes... I swear I almost traded Cleo in after she showed no interest in playing 'fetch' with me. She has mastered 'sit' and 'lay down' though!

Way to go on getting that ball back in good condition, it doesn't take much TLC to give these animals what they need, I'm not saying what you did was easy --- just that it amazes me what condition lazy people let snakes get into... I mean it's not like they are demanding pets. Clean enclosure? Check. Temperatures and humidity levels right? Check. Mousie? Check.
