I'll try to take some pics after he digests. He has had a rough life. I picked him up at a local reptile store. He had been dropped off there by a man whose son had starved him intentionally for over a year. He could barely lift his head. For months with me he would regurge for no apparent reason. He has been checked for absolutely everything and nothing has come of it. He now hasn't regurged in close to a year and eats a small rat every week. He is strong and alert and appears to be coming around He will always be kept quarantined from the rest of my snakes just in case. Despite what he was put through he is the sweetest snake ever. Puppy dog tame..

Wow...the poor thing! He's very fortunate to have found you! Sounds like he may have died even in the care of someone well intentioned, but less experienced or dedicated. Now....why on earth would someone intentionally starve an animal? Any animal? That's just horrible!

Big kudos to you for saving Sasha! I would love to see more pictures as well...brb's husbandry has me scared of them, but they are so interesting looking!

Oh wow, what great shots! :judge: Poor thing... I can't imagine starving any creature on purpose like that...! Lucky for him he's in such good hands now, he looks and sounds like he's doing great!

He's looking wonderful Jamie! How could the kid's parents have allowed that garbage to go on for a YEAR! Makes you wonder doesn't it.

Well I'm glad you've got him and have given him such dedicated care to get him to this point.....kudo's to you Jamie.

Great job Jamie. I love the BRBs. They're just so beautiful. It sounds like you have worked a miracle with that one, and I can't say enough about people who do stuff like that. It's just wonderful.

Just a normal small rat from Big Cheese Rodents. Thanks all for the kudos but it doesn't seem like anything special to me. I would help any animal in need. Its just the way I was brought up.

I love that last picture, she just looks so happy with that tail hanging out of her mouth.:D

Great job rescuing that beauty...its a shame how some people treat their pets.

Interesting - is it to help the prey be swallowed easier and/or to increase the amount of moisture the snake injests?

I always feed the rodents wet. The theory I'm going with is that the increased moisture keeps the snakes hydrated and thats a good thing. Does it make sense? Who knows! But it works for me :)

He is absolutely gorgeous!!! Starve an innocent creature on purpose??!! WTF?!! :OMFG: After seeing some of the things people have done to animals when I worked in the pet store, nothing seems suprising to me anymore...it just pisses me off and want to hate people even more

...and if it ain't broke...don't fix it! LOL

You know what offends me most...bad enough a kid did this...but where were the parents? the supposed reasonable, responsible adults? Drives me nuts when I see kids, whether they are good kids or rotten kids, being left totally responsible for a pet and the parents could care less. They don't teach responsibility by modelling it themselves, don't check the kid is doing the right stuff or back up their kid by helping with vet costs....well the list just goes on and on really! Personally if parents can't bother to teach kids anything about simple animal care and responsibility and to respect their pets, makes me wonder if they teach them anything about being a good person overall.

Oh and just to make you think, it's a long recognized red flag that most all studied homicidial sociopaths and a very high number of abusers that beat their spouses and children....have a history going back to childhood (and often continuing into adulthood) of animal cruelty.
