He's gorgeous!
On a side note: Can you please re-size that top picture...it is way too big and messes up the thread. Thanks. :)
EDIT: Fixed....thanks :)

Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
im sorry what do u mean by "what kind of breeding?" you mean CB ? or what sorry?
What do you guys think of his size for being 6 years old....this picture clarifies his real size a lil bit...like he doesnt look malburoiushed??? I dont think so but im by far no expert
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
He wants to know what bedding, not breeding.
It's some sort of wood shavings.
He looks healthy certainly, but he is on the small side.
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
To my admittedly inexpert eye...he looks like he could gain a little weight...but he certainly doesn't look malnourished or severely underfed.
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
He really looks like a young burm.. like maybe 2 or 3. He looks like he's still in the lanky stage.. like he's not filled out yet.
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
Hehe..."lanky" is a good description. Whatever you call him though, he sure is puurrrrdy!
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
pine shavings sorry...i read that post to fast lol!!!....im going to change it to "jungle earth".....I find it keeps the humidty better and it doesnt get pushed around so easy....also after he would go for a swim and then go exploring the shavings got stuck to his face like a beard lol.....I think his color will stand out more on the dark brown wood to
My bf is starting to get used to him...when we went to look at him and check him out he held lower half....its the first snake he's ever touched...EVER......Will yea give him a congrats for me lol??
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
Pine is very very bad get that out right away and put newspaper down or something., the oils in it is very toxic to the snake.
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
Yeah andre is right.. newspaper in the meantime is great. I use newspaper for everything.
Pine is killer for snakes.

Oohhhh! Congrats to Lucifer's Mommy's Boyfriend!!! It's really awesome when we can overcome our fears and learn to love something new! Really, the worst danger you're in is to be at risk for serious herp-addiction! :P
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
Congrats on the new "Kid". He's gorgeous! Get some rabbits in him so he can look like a "manly" snake, enough of the kid stuff! LOL!
And congrats to the BF!!! That's a big step!
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
oh wow what a gorgeous snake!
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
I thought it was cedar shavings that were toxic???? I looked it up and no offence I cant find anythign that says anythign bad about pythons and pine....I did not know this...the snake has been kept on it its whole life....Implanning on changing it anyways but i want him to settle in first....if he lived on it his whole life i think he will be ok a couple more days....BUT they will be removed from hsi cage dont worry!...thanks for the info tho
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
Cedar is worse, but both woods have aromatic oils (make it smell good) that have detimental effects on snake's respiratory systems. I have read this many times in many places about snakes.. lots of care sheets mention this important fact.
I would not wait.. I'd put him on newspaper asap.
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
The difference between cedar and pine is like the difference between unfiltered and filtered cigarettes. They're both bad for you, but one will kill you quicker than the other. And like cigarettes, it isn't a right now thing, it's a cumulative loss of health.
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
Way to go, boyfriend! It doesn't take long to win them over. ;) Hehe :devilish:
Re: 7 Foot Burm isnt 7 feet
Congrats on getting him, he's very pretty!
You might want to use newspaper for a month anyways. One, to get him off pine which is damaging to him and also to keep an eye on any possible bugs he might have brought along for the ride (you'll see them faster with the newspaper).
We use a bedding I mix myself for our big BCI Rauri. We get a huge bag of Cypress mulch from Home Depot for under $5.00. It's great other than it tends to be damp so I do dry it in disposable aluminium pans in the oven (very low heat, couple of hours). It dries it plus it makes sure no bugs came along in the bedding to my house. I just toss some Cypress mulch in and a bit of aspen to soften it plus I love the color combo of the dark cypress and the light aspen against the snake's colors. It ends up being very nice for the bigger snake...he can burrow a bit if he wants but he doesn't pile it up so much as it's heavier substrate.
