Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
Time to come clean...how many of you love reading crazy stuff on the BOI? =D
Re: Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
80% of my BP internet time is spent between this forum and kingsnake. I'll look at BOI when I'm curious about a breeder / seller. If I'm there for more than 20 minutes I've been there too long.:)
Re: Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
The only time I ever read it is if someone directs me to a particular thread for a real reason. I'll admit that it can be entertaining to watch some of the dirty gossip and bickering that goes on....but SO much of it is just garbage and gives me a huge headache if I were to try to wade through it for entertainment purposes.
So no...I really don't read it unless absolutely necessary. LOL
Re: Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
I guess I enjoy entertaining long threads which display the true quality of some rare, fellow humans...
Re: Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
it's like a soap opera! i get a laugh, and get a little gossip too.

Re: Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
It's like a car wreck, you can't NOT look! The lengths some people will go to prove their own stupidity are astounding.
Re: Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
What source are you reading from,I'm lost!! Lol.
Re: Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
We're refering to the "Board of Inquiry" on Faunaclassifieds.com. In theory, the BOI is a forum where people in the reptile hobby/industry come to share their business experiences with other people in the industry. If, for example, you wanted to buy a BP from "John Doe", you'd do a search on the BOI for "John Doe" and see what other people's experiences had been. Or alternately, if you had a deal go bad, you'd post about it on BOI to "warn" others of doing business with "John Doe".
In reality, the BOI tends to be an ego-driven, juvenille, mob-mentality kangaroo court, pissing contest/bit$$-fest.........................which is why it's so fun in a very dysfunctional way.
It does have its uses, if you wanted to know about Matt Graybeal of MGReptiles.com before you bought anything from him, you would find out that Matt has one of the best reputations in the industry. Unfortunately, you would also find out that there are way too many crooks/scam artists out there to possibly name.
Re: Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
I'd probably either use the BOI as a resource or for purely wierd entertainment purposes more but being a poor pitiful slow dialup person I could have a flippin nap between the page loads...waaaaaaaaaaay too slow for my busy day!

Re: Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
Am I the only person that can't stand that kind of garbage? BOI has its uses, as the forum owner originally intended...but most of the "action" there is like trying to watch Jerry Springer or something. bleh!
Re: Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
I'm with you Judy. Sometimes the really good information that the BOI intends to put forth is lost in all the posturing and name calling. Like I said before I rarely use the BOI as it loads so slow for me it's just not worth wading through the slow pages to find a few gems of good information...at least not till I have high speed.

Re: Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
I do refer to the BOI occassionally, but I always take what I read there with a grain of salt. It's a great resource, but it's gotten a bit tainted here recently. I have no problems calling folks I know in the industry when I deal with a new breeder or supplier, word of mouth is king.
Re: Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
I like to read it. It is amusing to see the stupid stuff that people pull. It is also equally amazing how easily people get taken. I find that a lot of research can keep that from happening. I think it makes me a smarter consumer.
Re: Admit it...you love reading the BOI!
I use it when I've not heard of a breeder or dealer before to see what their reputation is there, but then I also like to get a few personal referrals from people I've grown to trust in the industry. I have only had one completed transaction so far that prompted me to post my experience - a positive one, and from Adam's reputation here and elsewhere, I fully expect to be posting another when Casper and Piper arrive.
I would, however, be hesitant to post a negative post there, because it can be quite a kangaroo court there. But if I've done business with someone that I wouldn't hesitate to refer others to, that's worthy of a good guy post for me. I even paid the $10 just to be able to post.
When there's been a particularly slow day on the forums that I regularly frequent, then I might go there for sheer entertainment value and peruse some of the longer threads! LOL
